Golden Khanyisa moments in Golden light!
A morning filled with lots of special moments, starting from the moment Khanyisa did her morning dash from the orphanage into the loving trunks of Bubi and Lundi.
They set off past the closest dam to the stables, passing Zebras along the way, and stopping for a brief refreshment. They carried on, walking deeper into the reserve (the reserve is 17 000 Hectares - approx 42000 Acres in size).
The kind morning sun magically framed many sweet elephant moments and highlighted their impressive dusting techniques (Khanyisa's included!)
Khanyisa tried a few times to lie down and play in the sand, but Kumbura and Limpopo (two younger cows of the herd) were not very happy about that, being very protective over her. They kept trying to lift her up, and at times their anxiousness to do so made them a little bit rough, especially Limpopo.
At one stage Limpopo decided to join Khanyisa and lay down with her, but as soon as she did that, Khanyisa got up and walked away, just like a young toddler would do!
