The puppies rapid growth phase continues this week! By the end of the 7th week of a dog's pregnancy, her puppies will have reached 75% of their birth size. You may also be able to feel the puppies kicking, and even see them moving around with close observance of her abdomen.
It's time to increase your girl's food again; she can have up to 50% more than her regular dietary needs. As her belly continues to grow and pups press on her organs, she may not feel comfortable eating that much on your usual feeding schedule, so you can spread out her food into 3-5 meals/day, if desired. Continue to have her avoid all strenuous exercise, bumping, and jumping as much as you possibly can.
Your girl's pregnancy should be visibly noticeable in this stage and she will begin to shed hair on her belly (if it isn't already), and her mammary glands will continue to enlarge. (Note: not all dams follow the "book" - if you think your dog is pregnant, but aren't sure, check with your veterinarian.)
