That deleted scene with Boris and Ourumov is actually really good. It sets Boris up as a slightly more threatening character and establishes how short Ourumov's temper is.

I think Ouromov seemed more like a pompous and overbearing thug, with a particular dislike towards Boris (who was more bad tempered in this instance). Good deleted scene, shedding more light on the day to day workings of the Janus crime syndicate.

I think the first scene with the guard house and the gun dealer scene should have stayed in. I also like how the first deleted scene seems to probably have been intended to be in the film or hints that they worked with RARE a bit, because it kinda alludes to the bug you plant in the video game and the disrupted tv in the scene as well as both parts have the two guards.
@IsmailofeRegime2 жыл бұрын
Development on the game began in 1995, the same year the movie was filmed and released. If I had to guess, Rare's developers were given access to a rough cut of the film which included that (now deleted) scene, that way they knew what to expect from the movie and could plan accordingly.

The "Pacing" Excuse was code-speak for the studio pressuring them to keep it under a certain time. Had nothing to do with "Moving the story forward".
@ravecrab Жыл бұрын
The film is 130 minutes long. The deleted scenes add up to less than 6 minutes. Which weird number do you think the studio wanted the length to be under? Editing for pace is very common. It's one of the most common reasons scenes get cut. Most of these scenes are superfluous and you'll notice none of them happen at the exciting moments in the story.
@Peter_19869 ай бұрын
@@ravecrab Some of the removed scenes in this video don't seem to have had a negative effect on pacing, in my opinion - pacing is mainly about avoiding irrelevant scenes that bore the viewers, but some of the scenes that were removed from GoldenEye would work very well as character development, and as "breathers" between the more action-packed scenes.

There are three major problems with the train scene. 1. Ouromov overacts. The line "Call an exterminator" with that silly grin on his face is so out of character. That´s not at all how he behaves in the rest of the movie. 2. The scene adds nothing to the plot whatsoever. 3. We see the missile train before Bond sees it. There is a much better presentation of that missile train after the tank chase, when Bond sees it. We (The audience) should not know more than Bond. That totally ruins the suspense/surprise.

Pierce Brosnan was very overrated as James Bond. Goldeneye should have been Timothy Dalton's 3rd Bond Film. Too see Dalton and Sean Bean together again after the TV Miniseries Scarlett would really have been good!
@64unknown0074 жыл бұрын
While I agree Dalton in GoldenEye would've been an interesting treat, but I wonder what would've become of his third film based on the Alfonso Ruggiero and Michael Wilson draft outline. I always envision the actor John Lone (The Last Emperor, Year of the Dragon, and Iceman) as the main villain whenever I read it.
@chrissoren35214 жыл бұрын
@@64unknown007 Absolutely! John Lone would be a perfect choice to portray a Bond Villian. Could be a cross between Dr. No and Franz Sanchez. I always think of The Year of The Dragon. @64unknown0074 жыл бұрын
@@chrissoren3521 Yeah, but also I think there was a Femme fatale, a companion of the main villain who turned out to be a cyborg revealed during a fight scene with Bond and Connie Webb! Crazy right? But IMO honestly, I'm not sure how that would've worked for the film, let alone a Dalton Bond film. Then again, the whole script seemed like it would've been a far-cry compared to the two movies we did get but with that being said we would've seen a different side to Dalton's Bond we didn't quite get in neither TLD nor LTK, which unfortunately we'll never know but it'll always be nice to think and talk about what could've been if everything had gone the way it should've.

@@chrissoren3521 Although Timothy Dalton is my all-time favorite James Bond, as it was with his two Bond films that solidified me as a Bond fan during a Bond marathon on one of the encore movie channels during the summer of 2008 when I just turned 12. Then having to go out to find and try to collect the movies individually at FYE's before I was able to get the UEs and the Blu-Ray set til a few years later. However, I have to admit I enjoyed Brosnan as Bond as well, but the script material he was given to work with was pretty much hit-or-miss. For a while I genuinely only liked GE, but after rewatching his four films recently, I've found TWINE to be a pretty good follow-up, at least in my opinion. As for TND and DAD...they might have their moments here and there but not enough for me to watch them again anytime soon, or maybe only to kill some time or some movie to leave playing in the background. But, in my complete honest opinion, I think all the Bond actors who have graced the part seemed to bring something new to the table for Bond, so, I can't say I have a least favorite Bond, well not yet anyway. But in regards to Bond 17 (1991), I often wonder what the rest of the cast would've been like and who would have done the opening and closing theme, film score, and who would've directed it. I always thought of actresses Jennifer Beals and Tia Carrere as the main Bond girls. Beals as Connie Webb and Carrere as Mi Wai.
