I usually like Elizabeth Banks, but I don't even know what the point of that cringy running gag was. 🤔🙈 Banks wasn't actually trying to mock Dua Lipa, was she? Or was it a reference to the fact that nominees of different backgrounds were in this category (not uncommon for the Golden Globes )? Yes, people talk differently. Yes, languages have all kinds of linguistic features. And yes, people from Great Britain, the original English-speaking "country," have a different accent than, for example, the Americans, who developed their own English variety about 600 years later. ...which was about the time I started waiting for the punchline. ^^

Why are you acting like Elizabeth Banks just came up with these remarks on the fly?😂 She's reading the bad dialogue that was written for her. Her gameness actually made it slightly more tolerable than it had any right to be. Also...you'd really have to put in some effort to see this benign, forgettable bit as an attempt to mock Dua Lipa. It's not that deep.

Of course, I know what a teleprompter is and what it's used for, but are you telling me every single line any presenter says up there is on that screen? Nothing gets made up or says, "Hey dear HFPA, we'll make up three lines ourselves and send you a draft." ?That's what I would have done after taking a look at that accent dialog ^^
