If you're new to stop motion animation but you want to learn, the best thing to do is to give it a go. Thank u Gold Puffin! I Use A Laptop with a detachable keyboard. I Use That keyboard As a stand. Apps I Use: Stop Motion Studio Pro P.S. Sometimes the camera shakes ( when i take a pic)

Are you taking the photos on the webcam of the laptop? (using it like a tablet?) Maybe you can secure it even more firmly in place? If you're just standing it up leaning on the keyboard, I recommend using some kind of sticky tack or tape to hold the keyboard in place so that it doesn't wobble. Or wedge it in place with something.

Thanks! Oh, I think I bought it in Poundland, which is the UK equivalent of a dollar store. I don't use it because it's not strong enough to hold the weight of my DSLR, or even my Moto G4 Plus phone, which is a little bigger than the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini that I used in this video.

This was really helpful, thanks! But the only thing I don't have is a stand for my tablet. I don't have any legos spare legos to make my stand. Is there another way to make a stand for my tablet?

I'm glad it was helpful. If you don't have any spare Lego pieces, there are other things you can use for example, two blocks of wood, but the trouble is finding things of the right size, shape and weight in your house. You basically need two things are quite long but not too high and heavy enough so that they don't easily move around. And then you need to use blu-tack or any kind of sticky-tack or clay to keep them in place. It really depends on what stuff you have available in your house!

I blu tack my stand to the desk, and I also use blu tack to make sure the camera doesn't move around on the stand - just a blob at each end of the camera will do it

Yeah the actual green screen quality isn’t amazing but it can work in the right lighting

I'll try it sometime. I'm not a big fan of green screening because I find it very difficult to get it to look good, but that said I've only tried it with live action where the problem is green light spilling onto the subject (people). With stop motion it might be easier since everything is on a smaller scale.

I normally use a Canon 1200D but in this video I'm using a Moto G4 Plus with Stop Motion Studio app.

I don't use an app on a phone / tablet - I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. But I recommend Stop Motion Studio if you need an app. If that's not working for you then try Clayframes, PicPac or the Stikbot app.

Personally I don't use an app because I shoot on a DSLR and edit on a laptop. But if you need an app, I recommend Stop Motion Studio. That's probably the best app. Also decent and free are Clayframes Lite, PicPac and the Stikbot App.

I usually buy it from my local supermarket (Tesco), but cornershops, book shops, craft shops and stationary shops also have it. Also if you're doing an Amazon order, you can add on a pack of blu-tac and it costs only a pound (if you're in the UK)

What happens if you don’t have LEGO to build a stand or tripod?

You can just use blu-tack or some kind of clay to keep your camera in place, but it's not as good. Otherwise, just hunt for items that might make a good alternative. It needs to be something heavy, with straight edges, and not too tall.

With lighting, the important thing is to have a lamp and have it on the desk where you are doing the stop motion, and block out the natural light. There are lots of things to learn when doing stop motion, but just try to improve one thing at a time and gradually you will notice that your animations will be getting better and better.
