That upper baffle designed into the sluice trough is a cool idea! I like the air bleed holes as well. I'm impressed that 1100gph pump can run such a large sluice tube as a subsurface dredge... efficiency!

Thanks Kyle, The baffle design allows for the flow to undergo a type of jigging action that allows better separation of heavies to the riffles without impeding pass through flow. A standard size subby is approximately 4x the area of the suction tube and this design allows for 9x the size to slow down flow but still keep material in motion. This is a gamechanger in recovery for subbies. Sorry it took so long to see this, I haven't monitored this channel regularly.

Nice idea! It would be great to have a motorcycle battery in a small hydration backpack and waterproof connections. Then you could just move around skin diving and cover a lot of ground. A small cap tethered to the device could quickly be put over the back so you won't lose any material moving around. It would be quiet too, so here in California you could sneak some dredging in the back country and nobody would be the wiser. I hope my ideas help you!

Sounds cool. Keep up with the experimenting. The closest I got to this type of design for gold retention was a centrifuge type design but this required a fairly stable platform for proper operation so I kept looking for a more portable solution. I also found that there is no substitute for using real gold for testing and letting the numbers drive your ideas in the right direction. Good luck.

My friend has one and is happy with it. I would add some kind of handle on it. I would have to see it in the field before I purchase one. Good idea.

An 1/8th inch screen over the end would stop any rocks from plugging the nozzle.

Hi mate, cool prototype. Is that a 12v 3amp pump? How long would it pump for using a 12v 3amp battery? I’m not good at electrical stuff, but interested. Thanks for any info, response. Regards Martin

not here to complain, only learn...however this suction seems to be lacking...i have learned about centrifugal pumps, but cannot find a good electric(12v or 110v) pump to suck up like a 4'' pipe can...I want at least a 2.5'' intake, but cannot find a good pump...have seen 16,000gph waterfall pumps, but told they will not work good....i dunno...any info appreciated...want to clean down to 1' in river/creek...
