Knew someone that worked at a dealership. One day he got in a car that had thousands of $ in the console. Called the foreman, documented it, put it in a sealed envelope in the shop safe. His first thought is that someone was trying to bait him.

I never, ever, ever do valet. I don't understand it at all. Why would I give my car to someone else to drive, especially a complete stranger who is uninsured? I can park my car myself. One time a restaurant required me to use the valet. They wouldn't let me park my own car. I was like, 'Nope, not gonna happen! See ya,' and just left.

They All been doing that for years. The manager is the biggest culprit. That’s why they say not responsible for lost or stolen items. They take advantage of that rule.

Talking to the managers is like talking to the manager of a corrupt mechanic shop after one of their employees who told them they need a repair that they don't need.

That’s always the first “excuse,” don’t leave stuff in your car. I’m supposed to be able to leave stuff in MY car without it being stolen! IT’S MY STUFF IN MY CAR! Next thing you know they’ll start making excuses for people that break into homes. “Don’t leave stuff in your house when you’re not home.”

As a valet myself, ALWAYS look at reviews for the company before you valet your car

*I work at Safelite Autoglass when I'm vacuuming glass inside peoples cars anything and everything I find under the seats or on the floorboards I put on the passenger seat and tell the customer, I wont even steal a dime. If I replace a windshield and see change on the floorboard or on someones seat I leave it be. I cant stand people in the auto business taking stull that doesnt belong to them.*

Valet at Harrah's in Vegas has a theft problem. We were there for 4 days for a reunion. Over that 4 days, almost a dozen of us noticed items missing. Management was not helpful and said they needed more than just an accusation. Self park when you go to Harrah's. Better yet, stay somewhere else.

Manager: "Damn him, he never paid me my cut!" I'd love to see the money thief being told by cops "We're not taking you to jail!" while they take him to jail.

As someone with 10 years of prior valet expierence it's so sicking to see this. Not all valets companies are the same. i was trained to put the money in a safe spot and notify mangement. Or if its the same day pickup notify the owner of where we put their belongings. Shame on people that steal.

This happened to my wife. They took cash that she had left in the center console. She cried and told the manager that she would never patronize that business again. That carwash went out of business a year later.

Nobody should leave ANYTHING in a car that is parked in long-term parking, that is just inviting thieves to steal it. When I park in long-term parking for LAX, I leave NOTHING in the trunk, or anywhere. I only take what I'm traveling with. Of course, that doesn't excuse the sickening thieves that steal, that is despicable.

I had a drone I ordered few months ago, waited and waited then it dropped off the map for tracking at a customs port in NY and later found out through others that is was most likely stolen by a worker or agent working there at the time, thousands of things go missing at these places because they believe they have authority to take what they want because it's a corrupt agency..

Be careful where you reach in MY car. I may have inadvertently lost some rat traps somewhere in there.

1. I never let any valet drive my car. 2. I never leave any $, or valuables inside my car when I leave it any long-term parking garage. 3. I do have three cameras which turn on when the car is bumped, the doors are opened. I have been lucky, no thefts. The best defense is to have dash cameras, and do not leave anything in the car to be stolen. Specially when you have to leave the keys with a stranger.

I absolutely HATE when other's, i.e. mechanics enter and handle my car, particularly over night. They will steal anything and break, scratch, stain, scuff your car and basically do not show the respect to your vehicle that you do.

I know not everyone is able to, but every time I go to the airport I always have a lift from a friend and leave my car at their place. I never trusted parking garages at airports but this just confirms my distrust. Hope those who got caught for stealing or being irresponsible behind the wheel were fired-

there was a time i'd found a bunch of hundred bills inside a car i was servicing on my shop 💸 i took the bunch of bills and secured it into my tool box so no one could take it; i left a sign on top of the steering wheel notifying the customer of my findings 🔍 👀 the customer wasn't aware he had that money inside his car either, so he tipped me w/ 5 $100 bills lol 👉 that really made my day 💴 at school we were thaught about these social issues w/ customer's items, first is unethical, then is not right, and lastly you could risk your job and get fired just to score a few bucks - never get anything from a customer even if its on the ash tray 👈

oh my gosh that people are stupid if they're leaving money and valuables in their car when they go to the airport. just like you pack to go on a vacation you should clean your freaking call out when he go and park it for long term airport parking. I work at a car dealership in a service center people come in for maintenance and the car is trashed inside. some cars have so much clutter bags of clothes in the trunk and all sorts of things and they wonder why it cost them extra to work on it because it has to take the tech an hour just to get the trunk cleared so he can get in to do the wiring that needs to be redone or checked.

We had a similar fiasco back in 2016 at a hospital no less. My wife was experiencing a very high risk pregnancy and we were in office at the hospital twice a week for the entire 9 months. Fast forward to about month 6 and, without any warning to us, a massive construction project was started which took out the nearest parking lot to the entrance. We showed up one day to find a line of cars out in the street and quickly realized we were going to miss our appointment time. As we got closer we realized that they had taken up a valet parking operation. I’ve had valets steal from my vehicle before and I was not in the mood to deal with this sudden surprise, nor did I want to valet park. But, we were late and so we left the car out front and went in. When our car was returned to us, immediately the radio was blaring a station with foul music we did not listen to, all mirrors adjusted, seat adjusted, all minor annoyances…..until I got to work the next day and my company laptop had been taken from the trunk. It was never recovered. The hospital did reimburse my company, but I was incensed and refused to have them park my vehicle again, while we still had 3 months of twice weekly appointments to keep. We didn’t have much of a choice and continued having them park our car. Luckily nothing else happened during that time.
