He's a puppet for the PGA. If he's so concerned about human rights why doesn't he call out the PGA for playing a tournament in Mexico. It's one of the most corrupt countries on earth. The size and brutally of the cartels is unbelievable. Muder, drugs, human trafficking and the government just turns it's head. Again he's a puppet.

That says nothing. An incident from 1995 at Spyglass? Big deal. How other many golfers have deferred signing autographs, because they're off to the putting or driving ranges, preparing to play the round? *PLENTY* .

I followed Phil for 2 rounds at the Texas Open his rookie year. After both rounds he stayed and signed autographs and took pictures with fans for everyone who asked which was a good crowd for the Texas Open at the time. Ask those guys working in the locker room at the Phoenix tournament who's their favorite and most generous player regardless of his finish or if he's missed a cut. Phil by far. I wonder if anyone witnessed Brandel Heisman a kid who asked for an autograph. I'm sure 100% of the Tour players, past and present, have been guilty of not giving an autograph. I watched a 2 time major winner flat out tell my friend maybe next time when he asks nicely and maybe says please. It was great then and he still gets reminded 40 years later. Every other kid got one so what would think of the player after watching that from a distance?

I think the real reason the US is more engaged in the Ryder Cup is that these young guys like each other, root for each other. They stick around when one of them wins, team mentality. Phil and Tigers era was every man for themselves. Can you imagine Tiger and Phil staying around to root for the other one in a tournament. Europeans do it all the time. Yes, the POD logic does help in making pairings, but you have to like and respect the guy you are paired with to be successful.

When we see actors who were once penniless and starving become demanding, when they are raised to the super star class, we pause and wonder. Don’t we consider them to be those who are ungrateful because they choose to conveniently forget where they have come from. And now Golf seems to be also producing its share of ingrates. Who instead of being quiet grateful types who ingratiate themselves by being gracious like Elvis types, they actually appear ungrateful and entitled. Even the golfers on the tour who struggle, have a better life than many who are just working stiffs. Golf at the highest level is a privilege and therefore it should be played with gracefulness and appropriate humility. Isn’t this the reason why Mr. Nicklaus is so beloved. Let’s not forget the wise saying of Solomon. Proverbs 18:12 King James Version 12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

Phil is a master manipulator. The thumbs up glad handing is a distinct effort to get the fans on his side and whoop and holler for him. He gets favorable rulings on the course by intimidating the on course officials. With all the fame he has and the fans cheering for him it is hard for the officials to make a fair ruling. I remember watching Phil in a hedge planting that had bubbler risers, trying to get a ruling that a sprinkler riser was in his way. Which was obviously not. And he got the free drop. The inside trader stuff is no doubt a reflection of his habit of bending the rules.

No one should be killed for committing adultery. The men and women of those countries who practice these laws should have equal rights. Working through your problems is the right way, not just ending a woman’s life because she slept with another man. They should have court hearings and not resort to violence when adultery happens. Not only Saudi Arabia but all Middle East countries should not be allowed to kill innocent people without giving them a trial and counseling first.

It’s hard to quantify the value of having the support of the crowd behind you. But it’s worth having, if you can get it. When Matt Kutcher stiffed his caddie two things happened. Firstly the crowd concluded that he wasn’t what they thought he was. They saw him as greedy and mean spirited, ungenerous and became disappointed with him. But secondly, Matt knows that that’s how they are seeing him, and consequently it’s preventing him from being able to really believe. Greg Norman, a great player, was so blocked by the crowd, and the who’s who, because of his brashness, that he couldn’t win a major in the USA. Now Phil is facing a similar problem. He knows that he has been exposed and this will be effecting his ability to really believe. Belief is so powerful that a win can be followed by another win, simply because of high belief. If the people are not for you baby it’s going to be an uphill fight. But there will be such an undercurrent for Spieth, that’s yet to fully surface, from the who’s who of the golfing world and the crowd, that it will be like what Jack had. It will have the potential to turn him into a golfing legend. A hero. A great advocate for the game. A champion like Jack. He’s got all the talent in the world. He’s shown us that. He’s solid. Tiger came close but he blew it when he got caught with his fingers in the cookie jar. Eventually everyone is going to want this kid to win and win and keep on winning. He’s the full enchilada. And he’s young. But he’s got time on his side. And he’s tough. It will happen. Don’t worry about that. Don’t underestimate this kid. Be fair, he deserves it. And hey let’s face it, it couldn’t happen to a nicer fella. Right? Put your feet up and enjoy the ride when his victory roll kicks in. It’ll happen alright just like the sun coming up in the morning.And he will wear his crown well.

I think golf is significantly more competitive with field depth moving forward than the yesteryears, so I don't foresee one singled out 'face of golf' so to speak. A number of these newer young guns look quite impressive and capable of being among the top tier of star talent- whether it be Morikawa, Cantlay, Rahm, Hovland, Sungjae, Scheffler... it'll be interesting to see how things unfold over these upcoming years. If anyone could actually reach 10 major victories in this new era of golf, in my mind that might be the analytical equivalent of 25 major wins in the Nicklaus era.
@paulwilfridhunt
@paulwilfridhunt 2 жыл бұрын
@@schroeder4930 On the face of it what you are predicting seems to make perfect sense, and it’s also happens to be the general consensus that’s held by many. Maybe Jack’s record won’t be broken. It seems that way. However there is a thing called fate which always plays a part. It was in the stars for Julius Caesar to get to the top. Yes he had all the necessary prerequisites to achieve this, but without being predestined, it wouldn’t have happened. It’s a divine intervention thing. This stuff exists, although most are either completely unaware of it, or simply disagree with it. It wouldn’t surprise me if Jack realises this although he wisely wouldn’t say so. This was very evident in the final round of the British Open when when Jordan won. Inexplicably all the competition fell away by missing relatively easy putts. It was incredible. If you watch that final round again it’ll be blow you away. A golfer can be a great golfer but without the mindset of a champion they won’t dominate. This is certainly a desire to win, but it’s also accompanied by a sort of unique indifference, that produces the right mindset to win. Jack has got this. It can’t be manufactured. You’ve either got it or you haven’t. But hey Jordan has got this too. In the beginning Jack wasn’t popular. Everyone had their favourites mainly Arnie. But because everyone loves a winner so much, they eventually allowed themselves to marvel at Jack. This is going to happen to Jordan. He’s worth marvelling at. Eventually we all will want him to win. He’s got a following but you ain’t seen nothing yet. 👍😊🍀

A fully rounded great player must also be very likeable. And as there are many of them, its almost unfair to single anyone out in particular. However it would be remiss of us to not mention Jordan. He has that quality of greatness, that Jack’s got. He has the same sensibilities. But we’ll all have our favourites, however if Mr Speith shows the way and becomes the face of golf, the game will be well served. Therefore let’s not be surprised if he surprises us all when he gets his second wind with faithful Michael on the bag.

This is about Norman/Mickelson having the audacity to take on Tiger's management team - the PGA/Golf Channel. Rory even slipped the other day when he said... " they didn't even ask Tiger for his blessing"-- his words not mine. The hypocrisy by the players and the Golf Channel (Brandel Chamblee) pontificating about sportwashing is amazing to me. For years we have seen professional athletes and politicians shoot their mouths off about human rights here at home , yet they prostitute themselves to foreign governments that have despicable records and policies in place with regard to human rights and dignity. The players such as Tiger, Rory , Justin and Brooke have played in the Emirates for years for appearance fees . Nothing was ever said about that on the Golf Channel. In addition, Tiger , Rory and Brooke are sponsored by a company that uses child labor to manufacture the products these guys wear and promote. You haven' heard about that on the Golf Channel. So to me their open hypocrisy is astounding but in today's environment we should be used to it. Phil's comments were full of immaturity and coming from an ego (like Norman's and Tiger's) where he is no longer relevant on the PGA Tour; however, his points about the PGA Tour owning the players images and having the rights to those images is dead on but again you have not heard about that on the Golf Channel. I believe the final straw , after Phil and Tiger had to pay a portion of their TV stake to the PGA Tour for the use of their own images from the TV Match Play , was when the PGA Tour told Phil that he had to pay them for the NFT's that he is creating because of his image rights. YOU HAVE NOT HEARD THAT ON THE GOLF CHANNEL . I believe this is from where his comments are coming from but again you are not going to hear that on the Golf Channel. I guess my question to Rory , Justin , Brooke and Brandel Chamblee is that if Tiger had given his blessing to this tour what would their honest answer be. ?? Norman is correct in that this is not over , you have anti-trust issues and precedence of other foreign tours where they players that played were not banned for life by the PGA Tour. And just as a side note , if I was a golf professional in a meeting and say I did not want to leave the tour , I personally would have a problem with Jay Monahan's tone when he said ..."

Norman is a bitter old man - and has not handled his irrelevance well. As far as him threatening to sue - that was ridiculous- it would be easy to amend the rules of membership - so that you do not meet the requirements, and those media rights are just those guys wanted and expecting everything their way 100 percent of the time - someone told Phil no - and he sure did not like it and the real Phil got exposed is all .

They are wrong about the right leg brace function. Because there are degrees that you can hold it at the same angle and still stretch it to get a proper turn. It's not a black and white thing with keeping it totally solid, it never was. The idea was based on amateurs mostly totally losing the angle/turn at the same time, affecting the shoulder/plane of club. If you move it too much like Kyle Berkshire does, you have a much harder time hitting it straight. So you have to find a compromise between keeping the angle, and fully stretching out the leg. And everybody does it very differently. Also most golf teachers in history have been saying that this should happen, it's only because of the long hitters are hitting it relatively straight now at a high level, that a lot of teachers are putting less focus on it.

Brandel is right on. Phil’s lack of honorable character makes me sick. It’s one thing to make mistakes in life and strive to be a better person…however to display such horrific insight between right and wrong and to embrace an attitude of casual regard toward human life is an obvious shining example of Phil’s personality disorder.

Duh! It's call a history of horrible statements from Phil. He continues to stick his foot in his mouth and make poor comments about things that he shouldn't. That is a continual example of someone who lacks insight. Also I do this for a living.. judging people's character and giving them tools to become better people. However...when you are Phil's age and you continue to make horrible choices.. it's ingrained behavior thus his lack of good character attributes.

Undoubtedly Brandel’s diversified interests contribute significantly to making him the preeminent golf analyst that he is. Mr. Nicklaus has a similar disposition. He too has a wide variety of interests. Probably much more than we realise. But for those who make their golf the end all and be all, of all things, it becomes an almost incestuous relationship. Yes it’s good and proper to love golf but it shouldn’t be our first love. That’s reserved for God and family. And a family man has our admiration.

This aged well lol. Brandel is a man who knows little but talks a lot. A "reprehensible regime" that both the USA and UK sell weapons to (and a LOT of weapons). So it's okay to sell them weapons but not take money to play golf? Sorry but that makes zero sense. If all these players are so washed up why did the PGA want several of them for their Netflix series? Who won the 2021 PGA Championship? (Phil Mickelson). Who were joint second? (Brooks and Oosthuizen). Even Casey finished joint 4th and Ancer in the top 10 or so. Patrick Reed, Bryson DeChambeau, Matt Jones, Brandon Grace and Ian Poulter did okay too. Hell, even Gooch, Horsfield and Kokrak finished in the top 50. The last LIV event certainly had a far stronger field than the PGA Tour events that Finau won back to back where most of the top players didn't show up.
