I bought a set of Par Ace ping copies over 40 years ago. At the Carolina PGA show last week met the man Jack Pace from Charlotte that made them. Did you ever use any Pace heads or products. He was inspired, I made a chipper at E6 from his 9 iron. Is 86 and said let’s make some together. He still has the passion. Was a great interview will share. Thanks for all the education! Spike

What a masterclass of a video. I’m familiar with these concepts but such a great short video to wrap it all together. Top tier stuff.

Awesome content Jim. Let me know when you are ready to organize your curriculum on club building and club repair. Lol. Question: How has epoxy changed over the years?

Can you explain why clubheads with replaceable inserts never took off?

I would love to see a club comparison between Maltby’s and some of the big name brands like Callaway or Ping. I play with Maltby STi2 irons and my buddies all have name brands. I feel like there is no difference in length.

You didn’t mention bounce. My early clubs, back when they were all blades, had no or negative bounce. I think all modern irons have positive bounce, which helps avoid digging.

Awesome video! Do you ever use Maltby playability factor when looking at iron heads? The 923 Mizuno HMP doesn’t score well but it sure seems forgiving. Did Mizuno make a change from 921?

I was there when Mr. Maltby came out with the factors that make up the club head. The new head is only a slight change from the 921, some heads are now all chromolly

so we can find some good old clubs like hogans or even good generic brands with good condition heads and put new shafts in swing weight correctly and still have a great set of clubs rather than buying new clubs.

You could but the distance would be shorter per club

@@McGolfis that because the lofts are different?? I would like to pick up and old set of medallions and put in modern shafts. I don’t care if the 7 iron doesn’t match a modern 7. I simply like vintage clubs.

Hey Jim, is there a lot of differences between the older Nippon Pro 950GH vs. the newer Neo N.S. Pro 950GH? Always had great results with the older.
