BE BETTER GOLF SCHOOL with Eric Meichtry and I. For information about this awesome upcoming golf school. April 25-26 in Murrieta, CA. Go to www.bebettergol... and email contactbebettergolf@gmail.com to sign up!
This video is about my Lesson with Eric Meichtry, winner of the California State Open and 50+ professional golf tournaments. Here Eric though my lead arm softened too much in the backswing which introduced too much change in the radius of my overall swing which introduces inconsistency.

I mentioned this on your other video with Eric, but your key issue to consistency is how much you are moving up and down. Super easy to see it in this video as well.

Great video! I like Eric's teaching technique! That is totally logical and doable! I have the same slightly bent left arm at the top of the backswing. Good stuff!

The easiest way is to feel that you straighten your right arm. It will automatically straighten the lead arm. But it’s far easier than trying to think about straightening lead arm imo.

Ever notice how no matter who the pro Brandon is interviewing that week, Brandon's swing still looks the same, just the narrative changes ?

Eric has a keen eye to catch your wobble. I've seen it before on your swing and while I think you do a good job of compensating for it, I do think its good to try to clean up. I think Matsuyama pause at the top is a great example of what you are trying to accomplish.....Also I love that he mentions slow motion swings. It has really helped me correct my inside takeaway. Try to do 15 minutes of nothing but slow motion swings, its boring as hell but so effective. Im going to incorporate more of it. Swing is looking good BBG!

Yep, slow motion swings while exaggerating my feels is the key to improvement.

e james that happened 4 years ago, chum. Let’s see who’s improved more over that time. I suspect Brendan might have the better of it.

Why even try to "fix" the bent lead arm on the back swing. Things that bend on the backswing and straighten at impact are called power sources. Check out Harry Vardon's swing. He hit it very far that that Era, yet he wasn't very strong.

It could be your grip. Try pinching your right thumb against the next finger when you grip instead of letting it ride on the outside of the grip. It’s definitely in your right arm like I said before and pinching the grip with those two fingers to control the club better throughout the swing might get rid of it. If that fails then it’s focusing on the left arm like in this video but thinking of it controlling the swing more. This might get rid of the kink in your right. Good luck but when you think about it, lots of players have odd things in their swings and play well.

Nelson James is there a pro that does that so I can look at his grip? I’m a visual learner and I am trying to picture the grip you mean.

BE BETTER GOLF There are lots of them I’m sure. All I’m saying is to put your right thumb next to the index finger so it runs more straight down the shaft. It appears that your right thumb is separated from the index finger and is on the left side of the shaft. Sometimes this messes with stability of the shaft when swinging. I did the same thing at one time because it just felt comfortable to me in that position at setup. Once I changed it and got used to it, it made a big difference. If this doesn’t help then, focusing more on controlling the swing with your left arm should straighten it out more. Ball flight should be the judge here though. If you are comfortable with where you are hitting it then don’t worry about it.

Love the videos. Why not just stick to one swing coach? I understand for content point of view but spending alot of time with just Eric I fell would do wonders for you if that's what you're after?

Pros tip, Will shave at least 3 strokes off your game, lift you're chin slightly higher in the air its will give you the rotation and it will keep your lead arm straight, trust me try it.

If you think bending your lead arm is a problem, then you should think cocking your wrists even more is a disaster. Every argument for not bending the lead arm is also an argument for not cocking the wrists. This adherence to orthodox stupidity must end!
@jayscott1380
@jayscott1380 4 жыл бұрын
mike obrien you are completely correct. Keeping a joint that is designed to bend, locked straight is asinine. This is NOT the secret to being better at ball striking.
@BEBETTERGOLF
@BEBETTERGOLF 4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the bent arm was the issue he is talking g about but the problem Eric sees is the change in the radius from address to top
@jayscott1380
@jayscott1380 4 жыл бұрын
@@BEBETTERGOLF even if there is a change of radius from a bent lead arm. That radius will return to what you started with at the bottom of the arc. Gravity and the weight of the club will make that happen, nobody is strong enough to keep the arm bent and retain the smaller radius, even if you tried.
@arjanpetersen
@arjanpetersen 4 жыл бұрын
Jay Scott that is not the point. It would also happen when you completely bent your arm at the top. We would all agree that it takes much more effort and skill to hit the ball properly. It is just about taking away the little things in his backswing that require unnecessary correction in down swing.
@arjanpetersen
@arjanpetersen 4 жыл бұрын
That is why good pitchers and chippers try to keep wrists straight. Effectively you could bent everything at the top. What most long drivers actually do. But consistency is a major problem. So it is finding an optimal mix between consistency, speed, and flexibility.

Sorry, but "left arm must be straight" is one of golf myths and in reality at club player level having it be soft and bent makes no difference. Actually, for players over 50 I'd recommend them bending left arm a bit, as it can help with golf-induced back problems. Golf has many myths that teachers repeat onwards.
@canefan17
@canefan17 3 жыл бұрын
But he’s not over 50, and it is another angle that Brenden would have to unwind by impact. It also can jeapordize width in the backswing. The correction is easy. Feel like you straighten your trail arm I’m backswing and it will automatically straighten the lead arm. I agree That a little bend is probably ok, but Brenden had a lot.
