Hey GenerationGapGaming just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed your channel. As a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s I was a NES then a SEGA kid I still love those two systems my two favorite consoles of all time. My favorite sega game as a kid was greatest heavyweights not sure if you’ve ever played or done a video on that one but it’s a great boxing game. But thanks for all of your great content in these stressful times we live in it’s so nice to get nostalgic for the most classic greatest games of all time watching your videos are a great stress reliever.

Comment? I'l give ya a comment alright! Thanks for making this because I've been working slowly over the years on Wikipedia's article for it and you prompted me to add two more citations. I cited Mario Mania: Nintendo Player's Guide and the Ossan interview. Also uhh no, those aren't two people named Mario and Ossan, they're obviously two incarnations of Mario lol. Such is the efficiency of Iwata's programming. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golf_(1984_video_game)

YES!!!!! Another new review. I love this guy. I liked the Nes Golf game. Did you know Golf is on Nintendo Switch? There's a little trick you need to do and you can get it to appear but only if your console hasn't been updated it has to be an old Nintendo switch.

My high school girlfriend had an NES with one game: GOLF! Turned out her dad, who was an avid golfer, bought an NES just to have this game. We played it often, and always made that hilarious ball-flying sound.

My dad didn't buy Golf. It was given to me for a few hours a week by the guy that came by on Thursdays after my dad went to work. Golf must really stand for "Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden" because my mom always went in her room for hours while I played. She knew it was for me only, what a good lady.

Heh, we used to have NES Golf in the 80s because my dad used to play real golf, and that's how we ended up with it. I didn't know anything about how to play golf, but the game was fun trying to get the ball where you wanted it to go. And those sound effects? Iconic. =)

I got one for you brother...my dad was also a gamer in the arcades back in the day and he loved video games. So as a family my Dad always played sports games with my brother and I. Double Dribble, Golf, Baseball, Soccer, Volleyball, Ice Hockey, Blades of Steel, Punch Out, Pro Wrestling, etc. my pop loved Top Gun and he was the only one that could land the plane. lol Yeah my Pop loved sports video games especially on the NES. I always have great fond memories of this console plus my Dad played with us. He is awesome! My Pop used to have a paper chart for playoffs on our teams etc. for championships on every NES video game and we'd play till we got tired or just lost. My Dad made video games an event and it was fun until our Mom had to tell us to cut it since we'd all play till late at night and over and over again. lol Still great fond memories. Glad your Pop loved Golf and Nintendo as well. Dads are the best! A+++++

Yep. My stepdad bought it for me as a kid and I was confused because I knew nothing about golf. But I understood video games, so I understood the controllers, and figured out the three click swing and he got how the last click being left or right of the bar created hook and slice, and he also knew average club distances and taught me the basics of golf. I've loved that game ever since and still play it to this day. Great video.

I had this title, but my father was not a golfer and didn't watch it on TV. lol I had this title because a cousin gave it to me because I liked it so much while at her house playing it. Also, I must be one of the very few who is so glad that modern games have the option to turn off the music because it gets on my nerves. I never even thought about their not being music in Golf, but as an adult, it makes sense (concentration is supposedly more important for hitting a ball that isn't moving than in any other sport lol).

I love how golf games up to this day still have the same basic controls. One my favorites is the Links series from the 90's on PC.

I too would always play this game when I didn't know what I wanted to play. Even those weekends when I rented a dud at the video store, Golf was always there. I'm looking at you Top Gun...... I don't know where I got my Golf game from though.

The main games my dad would play with me back in the day was Rad Racer on NES and Streets of Rage on Genesis. Now, I have played what feels like thousands of games with my 2 adult sons. Halo probably being the most played. Good times. Games are so underrated for bonding with parents or kids.

Ive got my Nintendo NES Ice Climber bundle with Super Mario Bros on top of that christmas 1987, and just 1 month and a week later my dads Birthday is 2nd February So we got Golf for him in birthday present (well my mom did) Cause both mom and dad plays golf so that was the perfect gift ^^ But he only played it a few times. And the console was in my room so naturally it was just added to mine collection =) I was born 1981 so I was just 7 at the time. Still have the boxes for both the console and my childhood games I value them above rare games like Mr Gimmick and Flintstones 2 etc etc in my collection =)

I bought a copy of Golf for the NES in April 2018 and it was confiscated by police the same day. Seriously. It wasn’t the end of the world because I already had a boxed copy. Unfortunately, I lost that one earlier this year after getting displaced by an EF-4 tornado. I had well over 600 different NES titles.

The thing that blows my mind about this game is that there are people out there that have posted speedrun videos. The slowest most chill title on the console has speed runs.

Even though I don’t get a chance to play golf that often for real, I enjoy golf video games. Looking back, I’m pretty sure it was NES Golf that first got my attention. I actually learned a little a bit about the sport from playing some of those early 8 & 16 bit golf games.

@@GenerationGapGaming Question, I gave a tip about an N64 cart to keep your game down in your broken NES. Have you ever taken apart your NES? Because if so there could be part not be tabbed in correctly to the NES board. I can't remember if I shared this with you kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zqh-hbyAzqmcY2w.html When I boiled my pin connector on my NES (I recommend that too), after putting it back together, mine wouldn't stay down too, and this video helped assess the issue and it is now fixed. Hope this helps.

Can confirm, we had Golf because of my dad. He and I played the hell of it back then. We moved on to PGA Tour Golf in the SNES days. Little brother could join us because PGA TG could have more than 2 players.

This was so well done! I to this day have never played the game. My first golf game was Mario Golf 64 followed by the Tiger Woods series on playstation. How the heck did you learn about Captain Rainbow? That is some awesome detective work!

Dude I love Mario Golf too. I played a few of the early Tiger Woods games too and I loved them. I thought the Captain Rainbow subject was fascinating. Very cool game concept in general to where you can interact with a lot of "one hit wonder" characters from Nintendo games.

This may sound weird to everyone else, but I loved getting my ball either in OB ("out of bounds") or into the water ("water hazard"). I also loved to see how high I could get my score. My only complaint is that the number of shots on each hole peaks at 99, no matter how many more shots I can take (with the help of going "OB" or into the "Water Hazard" many, *MANY* times). I love the low-tone *BEEP-BEEP-BEEP!* sound effects, along with the rest of the sounds.
