Took this to the range today and had the best range session of my life with every club in the bag. It took a few reps but the thing I really noticed was how passive my hands were through impact and how high and straight the ball flight was. I have been playing golf for 35 years and this might just be my "figuring out golf" moment. Incredible.

This fits with athletic motion golf weight transfer data, Marcus Bell Zen Golf Zen Board and like Martin Chuck teaching on weight transfer. The latter actually has discussed quadrants just like this. I like information that immediately correlates with other good teachers.

Tried this a few times at the range and noticed immediately better contact. I feel like I have been hanging my weight back on my heels a lot and trying to push down into my front heel (I guess quadrant 4?) but with re-adjusting this to be more of a pressure shift to quadrant 1, it feels so much easier to transfer weight and keep the club on plane. Will stick with this!

Thank you. If you go toward quadrant 1 on the downswing, aren’t you getting closer to the ball and increase the probability of a strike more on the heel?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Жыл бұрын
Hey Peter! You can avoid this by ensuring your weight works into your lead heel (instead of toes) and feeling your hands and club head working up and left through the ball (instead of hands and club head working too far out to the right). Hope this is helpful!

Hey Eric, great video. My question is about achieving forward shaft lean. When I focus on drilling it I only achieve it with a severely raised handle at impact ( due to bent right elbow and wrist). Is that normal?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Жыл бұрын
Thank you, David! The shaft angle is SLIGHTLY higher at impact than at setup. The shaft angle being slightly higher at impact is caused by a mixture of (1) your wrists being more vertically unhinged at impact vs. at setup, (2) your trail side bend through the ball, and (3) all of your extension pieces through the ball. You may enjoy watching this video for more details! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fr2dgNiE0KvHYoU.html Let us know if you have any questions after checking it out👍
@hydrogolfer
@hydrogolfer Жыл бұрын
Thanks Eric. I suspect the severely raised handle at impact is the result of standing up (moving closer to the ball at impact) requiring a high handle to make impact. Make sense? Focusing on a better pivot to maintain larger distance from the ball would allow more to work in lower handle with shaft lean. Make sense? Thanks so much

great info, does that intentional move forward and down apply to the driver as well?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul! Yes, this would apply to all clubs...but you would go down and forward less and less as the clubs get longer. More so a big key with irons when the ball is on the ground, bit less with driver when the ball is teed up (because we're trying to hit UP on it). Here's a video for more details on how to shift your weight with driver vs. iron: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mM6KgrqlzMuoj6s.html Hope this is helpful!

This seems contradictory to your other video about getting your chest/ shoulders/ hips open as early as possible.. on the surface this seems like its targeting the higher handicap (slicers) rather than the low single digits (which seems to be more targeted with your other video). Am i wrong?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Жыл бұрын
Hey Grant! Sorry for any confusion! This one is tailored for those who hang back on their trail side and do too much of the rotation pieces in the downswing, leading to over the top downswings. In these cases, the golfer is not performing enough of the shifting down and forward motion with the lead side of their body in transition. This down and forward motion of the lead side in transition helps to start the process of a lot of the good downswing pieces you want...shallowing your downswing and swinging the club from the inside being one of those! Here's a video with more details on this move: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o5NhZNemuZe1fY0.html Hope this helps! Thank you for watching the channel!

@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Glenn! The shifting down and forward with your lead side was exaggerated a bit for the sake of demonstration. This is the FEEL we'd like you to have with your lead side as you're pressing into your lead heel in transition. As always, we want to exaggerate our FEELS and pieces we're working on 1000x more than we think in practice/rehearsals to help us hit our checkpoints. The movement won't be as exaggerated in your actual swing :) Hope this helps!
