ABOUT ME:
I’m Liam Harrison, Bolton born and bred. I’m a lover of Golf, life and laughter.
Started Golf 12 years ago after packing in football when i was 28 due to a back injury.
I started the KZfaq channel as a laugh and a Wim, to make me practice but that went out the window as i started vlogging, loving being on camera but more so the interaction with my #golfmates.
In 14 months i have seen the channel evolve and become the only real golf community on KZfaq which i am extremly proud of.
I would like to thank all the #golfmates that have been with us and supported us and the channel from the start. Also not forgetting our new #golfmates that may have only just come across the channel.

This brings back memories. When my grandfather was 83, he shot 81 with me. I will never ever forget that day. One of the most special days of my life. It was 14 years ago, he passed away in March 2019.

@Donald Welch that is the beauty of golf I think. At 72 you go out and compete against yourself and enjoy the game the same as at 12, 22,32,42,52,62 or 82. My grandfather played full rounds until he was 90 and still came out and hit shots, putted, etc., until he was 93. I have his age breaking scorecard framed on my wall. 39-42 for 81 and the back nine is actually the easier nine. Only in golf can an 83 year old go play with his 17 year old grandson.

@Donald Welch thanks it's something I will never forget. Golf is a big part of my family. I play with my dad and two uncle's every Wednesday afternoon. In fact I tee off in 6 hours. A couple 38's and 39 is damned good golf. It's nice playing with family, but playing with your friends is equally as great. Perhaps your son will pick it up later in life! There is always time in golf!

When I was in my twenties, me and my friend were on the first tee when the starter said that he was going to put a single with us. This old guy in his eighties showed up. We were both thinking “ oh great! Now we get to babysit this old timer! He’s gonna really slow us down! “ He tees off and like this guy in this video, hits the ball about a 150 yards. We’re kinda smirking at him. Over the next 18 holes, this old man, who could barely walk, proceeded to methodically and systematically kick our stupid arrogant asses! He shot a low 80’s score and totally and completely humiliated and humbled us! All with a big stupid grin on his face!! I love that old man!!!

Don Hall, this old guy's name was Gene and he joined myself and two other 30 something friends of mine. He did the same thing to us on a villa course outside of PC. I found out after he putted par or bogey on every hole that he was 82. We still talk about that butt whooping we got that day.

Happened to me once. Got in a group as a walk on. 82 year old man hit everything short and on a string. 1 putted the every green with his HUGE putter (Big Mo) and was 1 UNDER after 9 holes. Had to go to his car before the second nine. Popped the trunk, grabbed his heart medicine, and chugged it down with a Coors Light. Off we went to the 10 hole. He finished with a real and pure 2 under for 18 holes. No adjustment. Regular tees. Granted the course was a bit less than 6000 yards. Been drinking Coors Light ever since. LOL.

Fantastic tips for older golfers, like myself, and beginners. I don't even carry a driver anymore....I carry a 3 wood, and a 3 & 4 Hybrid along with a 6-PW, SW, Gap Wedge & LW. The days of me hitting 300+ yards drives left me 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in my right hip and both wrists & hands. I just try to play under control and divide each Par 4 & 5 into...like Liam said...the widest Par 3 ever...and land it safe area's. I still can hit my 3 wood pretty long....but a lot of the time I play it safe and hit my 4 Hybrid off the tee...and then hit irons into the green. Oh...for us Senior golfers, don't let the younger guys try to talk you into playing from the Professional tees! They're trying to get you to play with your ego instead of playing from the appropriate tee box.

Hello golfmates! I just took the game up two years ago and LOVE it. I ran across your channel and can’t stop watching the OMP videos, he is the GOAT! There is so much information out there, too many KZfaq “instructors” and this combination makes the game incredibly difficult to figure out. Thanks to you fine lads my game has improved significantly. This tip was GOLD and very effective. I’ve learned to drop the ego and just play sensible and advance the ball. This by itself has improved my scores by about 10 strokes. I’m now in the 90’s consistently and hopeful to get into the 80’s next year. Love your content and thanks for creating all this material for us. You’re making the game easier and much more fun. All the best from your newest golfmate in Dallas, TX USA 🇺🇸

Just found your feed Liam and I am delighted. I am 70 years old I took up golf in my 30s, played for a few years and then stalled, rather than stopped. I have played the odd game once a year and really done nothing much with it. At the end of the first lock down my Son, now 40, said he was going to play more golf, he also has only dabbled for a few years. We played about 3 games and went to the range weekly for a couple of months. we both got the bug and then the second lock down was impossed. I have been obsessing and practice swinging watching Rick Shiels video, which is how I found you. OMP has really brought me back to ground and made me feel I could plays great golf without thinking I need to hit the ball over 280 yds off the tee. What a star I will be watching more of your feed and OMP before I get out to play again in April.

Liam, OMP I watched this video last week. I've had a long (8 year) layoff from Golf. I've been back at it for a month or so. I was a consistent 22-25 shots over par forever. I used to crush balls off the Tee, (then look for them in the trees). I took this video to heart and went out yesterday to end at 86 (14 over par). I'm thrilled! The sand got me for 4 shots on one hole because of the overhanging front. The putter had no chance. After hitting the lip and going right back in, I popped it out backwards to chip over onto the green. Thanks Liam and Pat (and golf mates) for the tips and the great results!

Love this idea. I used this idea about two weeks ago. Left my driver in the car on purpose ( because it always misbehaves) and used my 5 iron of each tee box except for the short par 3s and instead of shooting my usual 105-110 I shot a 97. Thanks Liaam and OMP. Great tips and going to use this all the time. Go OMP.

I love this video. I did this last week in my 9 hole league using nothing bigger than my 7 iron(170yards). Just to prove to two guys being 170 yards in the correct fairway is much better than 250 in the wrong fairway or feeding the fish. Shot my handicap(+4) on 9 holes and they couldn’t believe it. Lost to the guy I was playing against but shut them up about needing new drivers. So worth it.

I had the yips with all my long clubs a few years back. I teed off with an eight iron for ages. Dropped my handicap to 12 from 18. I’m only discovering the benefit of hybrids. I have a 22, 26 and a 30 degree loft hybrid group now. The 5, 3 and driver are gathering dust. The others stop laughing when I’m hitting in the 80’s and they can’t break 90. Best gross score of 82. I was a 300+ driver 2 years ago. Don’t bother now.

Absolutely fantastic video Pat. A perfect video for me as I'm on a quest to consistently break 85. We're all guilty of that ego shot off the tee, in fact I've done it twice on that very hole at Chorlton and got into a lot of trouble with my driver! Regarding that bunker tip, I had a shot the other day from a compacted bunker with hardly any sand in it, this would've been the perfect option for that, I'll be using it next time. We really appreciate your tip videos, please keep them coming. 👍⛳

I’ve been playing golf for 55 years. I was a scratch at one time for years. The best tip I ever got was when playing with a real good player and complaining that I couldn’t break 80. After watching me play he said “The reason you can’t break 80 is you don’t know when bogey is a good score. When you’re in trouble, chip out, hit your next one on the green and play for bogey. Who knows, you could make par and at worse you make bogey. You’re making doubles and triples trying to hit high risk shots to save par and it’s ruining your score.” I started shooting in 70s shortly after that.

I had a similar tip from an old fella--except he recommended using my 5 hybrid or 7 wood to 'putt' out of firm bunkers. Also, if I go over in my mind the course I regularly play, using OMP's method, there's no way I could ever fail to break 90, even if I two-putted every green. Unfortunately, getting rid of the ego is easier said than done. We all want to 'look like' golfers, even if it hurts our scoring. But I'll make a real effort tomorrow. Thanks Liam and Pat.

OMP, tips are solid! Not just for breaking 85, I’ve used he same technique to break 80. I play from the green back and look at what I need to do to get to my favorite distance (100/120) yards. What I found out for me is that, like OMP...I hit an easy hybrid twice and a very easy pw for a chance to putt for birdie on a par 5. Best kept secret, like what OMP said, remove double from your game and you will shoot low 80s. Unlike my playing partner, he’s getting his money worth playing golf using his driver...going from tree to tree. Most course we played is like 6200 yards, but I swear most people will play these course like it was 7500 yards. Haha

the putter out of a bunker should work well , sand traps are very hard sand the ball usually sets up and if the angle is not right the bounce of the club will make you hit thin an blade the ball over the green . Like the fact he used only a 5 rescue 150 is about all I can hit my 3 wood so course positions tips from vlogs that hit it 229+ yards and irons 180 do not compute . thanks guys

The world's best golf tip actually comes form Nicklaus, Palmer. and Hal Sutton. (Nicklaus especially). It's that the first 2 to 5 inches of the takeaway is the most important part of the golf swing. It's because that is the ONLY place when the arms can get "connected" to the body. Once disconnected the golf swing can never be recovered by anything but luck. The swing is then all about timing. That first few inches is initiated with your body's big trunk muscles, not your arms and shoulders. Now they ride back with the trunk in a "connected" manner. They stay more of less "centered" to your chest and your rotator cuffs only go up and down (not around). Timing is way less important and this is how pro's take their range game to the first tee. Hal Sutton even said that his game was only as good as the first 6 inches of his take-away. It took me literally thousands of hits on the range to come to the conclusion that these three people were exactly right. Timing lasts about 3 minutes, tops. Connectivity stays with you from shot to shot. Touring pro's also sometimes call this "tightened up my swing". Your swing is definitely going to feel a lot tighter but you don't lose distance. The big trunk muscles come more into play. Watch the pro's carefully. Many of them (including me) do a partial take-away one time before the actual hit. It's to practice to be sure to use those big trunk muscles first, not the arms and shoulders. That is a hard habit to break if you've done it all your life like most people do.

Thanks so much! I am 69 and using OMPs nifty ideas I finally played two consecutive rounds under 90. The very first shot on every round is on average, the worst shot I usually hit. I did know about putting from the bunker, but I keep forgetting! Thanks again!

Pat, you’re a total legend 😊 your fantastic tips may help me break 100, especially getting out of the bunkers where it has taken me up to 4 shots to get out of...cheers golf mates too!! All the best to you all 👍🏻

Great advice from OMP there. So true there's definitely more than 1 way to play this game and it's about managing your way around the golf course effectively to come up with the lowest score. This tip is something a lot of golfers I play with could really learn from.

I played with a guy who was stymie in rough just above pin high..about 7 yrds off middle of green.bunker guarding from his position...super fast greens..another bunker on direct path other side of green. He explains to me...i am going to bump and run this on the green. RIGHT!! He took a 5 iron keept it low went in the bunker with a huge lip approx 4 to 5 foot high and put it in middle of green. He is a player but I never thought he could pull that shot off.

Great tip and precious wisdom OMP. best tip I’ve gotten is to be sure you are lined up properly. If you’re aiming way right and hit it way right then you hit a good shot but you think you hit it bad. And if you hit it down the middle then you think you hit a good shot but you actually pulled it left. You can’t fix your faults if you don’t know where you’re aligned.

Best tips I ever got was to swing to a target.....the ball is not the target and let the swing match the practice swing letting the club wrap around the neck which takes controlling the club face out of the swing.

Hello fellow golf mates. I'm new to watching your channel & I have subscribed. I really appreciate your advice to the average high handicap golfer like myself. I constantly need to remind myself to "check my ego". Instead of hitting my driver off the tee (which I'm really bad at), I need to just hit my 5 wood or my rescue 5. I'm way more consistent with them. I appreciate the friendly manor you guys give advice and remind us it's ok not to hit driver out 280 yards 1 our of 10 tee shots. Also for me its way better to hit a safer club 150 to 200 yards 8 out of 10 times. These tips will help my game. Ideally I play to better myself but if I can have a score at the end of 18 holes that is better then my father in law or brother in laws that's good too. Also the tip about using the putter out of the is pure genius. I ha e never seen that before. I will be using that tip. Keep up the great advice. Thanks Brad
