Absolutely man anyone who isn't deeply moved by this song has no soul. It makes an old metal head grin when I see younger people finding the music I grew up with. I've been listening to Metallica and others for over thirty years, happy to answer any questions you have. Other suggestions would be: Seek and Destroy, Whiplash, Fade to Black, Disposable Heroes.

@@GOnABeat I swear I subscribed but im glad I looked. Subscribing now. I've been a life long metal head and enjoy watching people become familiar with and enjoying metal. As you go on this journey, keep in mind that it's not just the lyrics. The musicianship and "feel" of the music as the instruments communicate to you is the main lure followed by the lyrics (Imho). While there are many great lyrical geniuses (like metallica) some bands are over the top instrumentally, even though their lyrical quality may be questionable. Let me know if I can be of any assistance in selecting more accessible songs to ease you in 😄

The solo by Kirk reminds me of a dogfight in an airplane. Very frantic, spiralling in and out, careening all over the place, diving up and down... Just like a plane would in a dogfight and just like your brain would in this situation of being trapped in yourself with no way to live or die

Just found you today. So far i give you a thumbs up. Some other suggestions: Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) with Whiplash as the last note of Anesthesia goes into Whiplash. Fade To Black, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Leper Messiah, Orion, Disposable Heroes, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Frayed Ends Of Sanity, Blackened live in Seattle 1989, followed by Blackened 2020 which is their Covid-19 version where all 4 guys were at their own homes but jammed on Zoom, Of Wolf And Man, Fuel, Hero Of The Day, The Unforgiven III, Cyanide, All Nightmare Long and so many more great Metallica songs. Thanks. Keep on rocking!!!

One of my favorite songs growing up because I was always a Metallica fan and I loved the movie Johnny Got His Gun that shows the horrors is war especially WW1 with the trench warfare and the bombings and the chemical bombings

This song is inspired by the book and movie Johnny Got His Gun about a WW1 soldier who is blown up by a bomb and is left without arms,legs,hearing,speech,sight,so he’s a lone individual suffering in an hospital bed just wanting to end his life because it’s terrible

Medical treatment is better now? LMAO, 3 yrs ago after my emergency surgery that gave me my stoma I spent 24hrs screaming until my voice gave out and I couldnt scream anymore, it was at that point I begged the nurses to let me die. It wasnt until then that they took my pain seriously and hooked me up to a morphine pump. I have ptsd now.
