So...we have been avoiding the "when are you getting your boat" question for a while...but not anymore. The original plan was to splash this summer (obviously that didn't happen) but now that HH has launched the first two hulls of the HH44 (01 and 02), we're next. But today we're talking about why we're not sailing our new boat (yet), what our sailing plans are and what we're doing in-between.
Oh yes, and we're doing it all with the windy but beautiful backdrop of Mallorca, Spain!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales.
We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.
Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It's all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.
We've lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste.
Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

I respect the fact that y'all were willing to take a chance on a untested/unproven boat. WIth that said, the fact that you were lucky enough to have access to the factory and all those involved makes all the difference. It helps give you that piece of mind that things ARE being done properly...even though it's taking longer than expected. But in typical Nikki and Jason fashion, you've taken those lemons and made lemonade. You're not sitting down and pouting, you're making the best of the situation. In my experience, trying times like these you are dealing with sometimes present unexpected opportunities which might not have been available otherwise. Take advantage of them and realize you'll be better for them.

So true on delays!! We put our RV in for repair and service, with the dialogue of “no problem.. 2 weeks tops!” Yeah right…. Waiting on parts! 2 months later we get a call… the parts came in, give us 2 days. Swear to God… 1 day later I get a call from the police “ do you have a RV at Camping World? They broke in last night and stole 135 Catalytic Converters and one was yours😮 Of course we had another 2 weeks wait. I feel your pain!!! Love your channel and every Sunday we say… “Let’s see if Niki and Jason got their boat” Take care, be patient and Smooth Sailing…. Some day!🤗

Jason and Nikki, you two have been so inspiring for me! I look forward to your videos weekly and even though you haven’t been in your own boat for over a year, you have kept it sooo interesting with your adventures! I’m sure it’s a lot harder than you let on to keep it going at this pace. One day, I hope to do more sailing than a weeklong charter at a time, but I’d love to crew sometime so I will be waiting anxiously to see how your Med crossing goes!

When you get to Indonesia, Head towards Misool which has a marine protected area. This was the idea of two Scuba Diving Instructors who set up Misool Eco Resort. The Diving in this area is spectacular. We visited 3 times and have many 1000's of dives each - that's how great it is. Magic Mountain rarely disappoints Avoid Spring tides as the currents are fierce (but big fun if you like big currents). The area closes for the Monsoon though

Yeah, living in limbo, or in flux, the best thing one can do is breathing exercises, breathing spaces can be meditative walking and noticing your lungs, recognition of your toes to your head, heart & soul, and Olive trees! We had a significant wind storm in Canada that blew out power and knocked out ferry service for 60 sailings, weather is everywhere!

Boats and delays are like Mondays following Sundays. I know what you mean about unsettled (in a far smaller way), I’ve just finished 6 weeks finishing as much as possible on 1 job and learning another, packing up my stuff but leaving enough for the rest of the family who aren’t travelling, and moved abroad midweek (after spending the weekend on a Cub Scout hiking and hostel trip - really sensible choice!). I am currently living out of 2 suitcases until I get a permanent rental and my truckload can join me. And realising that I forgot loads, and forgot with Armistice Day that not only was almost everything closed today but also yesterday…so shopping has to wait until next weekend as it’s been nonstop already here (I was still doing job 1 on Wednesday morning before heading to the airport, got to my temp apartment at 9pm and had an all day meeting for job 2 start at 9:30 am Thursday!) and another full week of work ahead.

In my long list of life experiences. I dislike this saying most of all. "We have only this amount of time to do something once, but we always have time to do it twice" You guys are doing it correctly. Painfully as it feels. Do everything correctly first, as much as humanly possible and save yourselves the "Surprise" personally I hate surprises. Be like water on a duck's back. Let it roll right off. Your journey will still be there. Bigger and better with less "Surprises"

Classic. Boxes and boxes of boat gear. I can so relate. One time in 2008 i took 13 x 66lb boxes and 6 surfboards and a roller furler on a LAX flight to malaysia. 40,000.00 of gear that saved me 40,000.00. It only cost me 1,000.00 in extra baggage fees. It was to langkawi a duty free islsnd and it went all so smooth. Unbelievable. Try that today and youre going to have issues for sure

Love that you guys always show us and highlight the places you go, and don't just show views from the boat. It's bazaar because so many sailing channels don't do that and many times we can't even distinguish where they are. We understand they are 'sailing' channels, but they're/you're also 'travel' channels. Anyhow, thanks for showing us Mallorca up close. I hadn't pictured it quite so Metropolitan.

I signed up through your link, spent a while on the first few classes on sleep. THEN I put on a Sleepcast at bedtime. Sure enough I made it through about the first 10 minutes, next thing I knew it was morning. I have serious sleep issues and this really seemed effective. I love your channel, never miss an episode. I really appreciate your recommendation, I'm excited to continue. As far as the boat delays, "measure twice, cut once", you are doing it right. I am excited to see you back on the water though. :)

Awe, so glad you have already found the app helpful. It was an instant hit for me too! The more I learn about living a long life (and healthy enough to enjoy it) the more I learn how important sleep and exercise are. I can't say I have the exercise part nailed yet but my sleep has dramatically improved. Thanks for being a part of the journey!

You two are such a neat couple. It seems like you grew up together and enjoy each other's company. I hope you know how special that is.

Nice video guys. Holding thumbs you get your boat soon 🙏🏻. I have a hull no 1 but luckily it was the PO that had the delay. 😉

Sounds like you guys have plans in place to head back to Asia, but if you still have time to kill or anything changes we are heading south in Bulgaria right now. We are always down for meeting up with old friends at an (dog-friendly) airbnb at a yet to be determined location to catch up! ❤️ R-
