Good Guys Columbus Follow-up and Positivity!

Well the 2024 Good Guys Nationals in Columbus is over, all the cars and vendors are all gone, and the Ohio State Fair is rolling in and setting up. Over the weekend we had a fantastic turnout despite some venue challenges due to ongoing construction. The Hot Rod community came out in force, and it was great to see! The love my little ugly ducking 1979 AMC Spirit AMX got was also AWESOME, so thank you for that! Most of what I want to talk about in THIS video though is negativity and our unfortunate obsession with spreading it, as well as some misconceptions about myself and my motivations. I want to clear the air, this is a one time conversation, and we can get back to the fun cars, hot rods, and race cars. Thank you to 92-96% of people who supported me in my recent postings and who understood me and where I was coming from. Glad to have you here, looking forward to you all being a valuable part of the community I'm trying to build here!

It's really a super unfortunate situation we've let ourselves fall into over the last few years, EVERYONE seems to be surrounded by negativity. It's massively frustrating for a very positive person.

@AutomotiveAdventuresWithAustin YES it is. I am always upbeat and happy, and all of this nowadays just has me disheartened. I know it has to be for you as well. I always try to see the light in things and the positivity in things. People just don't seem to understand that it takes more energy to be an A-Holes than it does to be nice and have fun. Being a dick is not having fun. I'm a goofball, and I joke with people, but it's just fun. I never dig into people cause that's not fun. That's being a dick. When I make a comment, it's a playful jab or a joke. I never leave mean or serious comments on any video I watch. I've had some bad comments on some of my videos, and I don't like it either.

Austin, I enjoyed your talk, we all need to hear it. You made some great points, I didnt hear anything I don’t agree with. I applaud you for staying on course and continuing to proclaim your thoughts and feelings in a way that allows me/your subscribers to come to their own conclusions. This is so important and I’m glad you are intelligent enough to realize that. Not trying to 💋🫏, but you do a very good job of talking to people. It truly is a talent not everyone has. I really appreciate that and I'm very glad to see that what I'm TRYING to say and do is coming across, at least to the people that matter. My whole life I've had detractors, and that's never going to change, fortunately it also isn't going to knock me off course. I'm a good person. And I will continue to be that good person no matter what. WE can change this world and our community one day and one video at a time, all we have to do is put in the leg work and try.

Hey Mr Austin I hope what I said was it negative all I ever said was I worked for Turner construction years ago and that they would do what they could do for the show and I knew they would. I would love to come up there but when I drive almost 2 hours up there to work everyday in Columbus with a 2-hour drive home after 10 to 12 hours of work it's hard for me to want to drive back up to Columbus on the weekend. And I think what you are doing is great. Because you're showing people how they can build cars and have fun with cars without spending 30-40 thousand dollars. And how you can have fun with the cars like you have and like I had myself. So keep doing what you're doing screw the negative guys or women because all they are is keyboard warriors. Please don't stop what you're doing it is very awesome

You hit on the key to branding. If you have something negative to pass on, it gets passed on to everyone. If you have positive things to say, only a few folks have it passed on to them. Glad you enjoyed the weekend.

It's really a massively frustrating thing for me that our negativity has become a self serving circle. It just keeps growing and growing compounding on its self while the good stuff never gets anywhere. SOME of us are out here trying to do something about it, but it's almost overwhelming 24/7!

You have my support. I had a great weekend when I watched your second video on the fair grounds I knew things would be fine if not better. I feel like we gained more parking. I can’t wait to see the new buildings and all the other improvements in a few years.

It ended up being a great weekend, I'm glad to hear you had an excellent time as well! There was certainly a whole lot of work done between the first and second videos, nothing is perfect but it turned out pretty dang good. Attendance was reportedly in the 6200 range on Saturday, which is awesome! We'll see how things go over the next couple years my fingers are definitely crossed!

Very nice speech! I think most people go on in their lives without even being aware of the unfortunate imbalance between the positive and the negative … and obviously some few even march through their whole life without noticing. You addressed it well and gently❤ Another youtuber who is doing good for others is Casey Ladelle. You both got a great spirit! Maybe there’s a chance to do "something good” on this channel?

Glad everybody had a good time at the show. Nothing's better than a big event that everybody looks forward to every year. Old friends, new friends, cool cars and trucks, nothing's better dude. Remembering old days, making new memories, and marking your place in history by being one of the regulars. The OG car show guys are what carries the next generation forward and sets the standards for how to act, how to present your vehicle, and how to incorporate new technology to bring in the younger crowds. It's great that you're pushing the cool old guy mentality along with the current KZfaq technology, but including the fact that we always get along with each other at the show. Car guys are the best at positivity because we don't care about what color you are or who you're voting for. Car shows are about face to face, not hiding behind a screen talking trash. You're doing it right, keep up the good work dude!

I think you did a great job on the video. Too bad good guys wasn't a week long wouldn't that be great. Forget the negative stuff those guys are. a holes . The only thing I didn't like was some jerk stole your lights. I don't think it had anything to do with good guys. Those are car people I don't think they would do that. It probably happened between day one and two. Keep it up Austin you do a great job.
