Good to Go (also titled as Short Fuse) is a 1986 crime thriller film written and directed by Blaine Novak, and stars Art Garfunkel as a beat journalist pursuing a murder investigation, with the Washington, D.C. go-go-scene in the backdrop
The soundtrack was released on August 1, 1986 in conjunction with the nationwide release of the film. It consists of a compilation of 13-songs, mostly by local Washington, D.C.-based go-go bands, along with several dancehall musician. The Good to Go soundtrack was released with intentions of it becoming a springboard to elevate go-go music, similar to the way The Harder They Come soundtrack influenced the acceptance of reggae music globally. - wikipedia

I knew nothing about go-go music until I moved to the DMV in the fall of 84 during my junior year of high school. Definitely was a part of DC culture!

There is NO OTHER..IT ORIGINALLY STARTED HERE AND WE STILL PLAY IT IN DIFFERENT FORMS DUE TO DIFFERENT BANDS AND AGES OF THE BANDS

I did post production on this movie and saw troublefunk live that year '86. They ( industry) really tried to give Go Go a national push. A few whites out here on the west coast picked up on it , but for the most part it never caught on in the 'hood.

Da Butt was huge in School Daze. But you’re right. It didn’t materialize. Junkyard Gang, Trouble Funk and Chuck Brown didnt cross over.

@Agent Orange When i say "hood" i mean neighborhood. We used to call our communities that in south L.A back in the late 70's -80s. Our phrase for what you call a "bama" was " mark ass buster"....you mark ass buster 😉

@Jamal Vines Outside of Chuck Brown & EU the other artists you cited didnt break out to a national audience. Can you name one record besides "DOIN THE BUTT" or "BUSTIN LOOSE" that charted nationally by a GO-GO band?

Say what you want about the Man; he helped get that DC sound out to the World. Dont judge him too harshly. Trouble Funk and Chuck Brown would never have got to play to the other side of the World without the Movie! Good bless GOGO and all those who made it what it was and is; if you truly love Music? Then you gotta love GOGO!
