This is beautiful! I can see the inspiration from Mcki Robyns, but that doesn't detract from how beautifully intricate it all is -- in fact, I'd say it adds to it! The video, the sound, the tuning - every single aspect of this is absolutely amazing. I love how uncanny Rin's voice sounds; how airy she is, and how melancholy the lyrics are. You have such skill as a producer, as a lyric writer, and it's so obvious that you were passionate about creating this. I can't even begin to express how impressive the instrumental and use of panning is in this. I'm still not really over the title's play on words, but I lost my MIND over "let's start a new game in an old corrupted file"! It's such clever use of terminology. And the simplistic upset of 'it's okay' coming from Chiaki has me sobbing on the bloody floor. Absolutely WONDERFUL work, I can't wait to see you grow as a producer and as a channel! Hey! i love the way rin sounds in this song lmao “because giving up is just duplicitæ” it’s so funny but makes the song feel a lot more meaningful in a way.

There is something about the way Rin sounds here that makes this song so much more impactful The song is so calm and quiet giving completely the vibes Chiaki gives in game but the lyrics and the way Rin sounds gives the song a more tragic but sorta nostalgic sound. It genuinely sounds really nice to me, giving a sorta more robotic sound but sounding real in a way which perfectly fits Chiaki! Really great song :) Hopefully it gets more attention cause it genuinely is a perfect Chiaki song

I don't have a creative way to describe how amazing this song is that hasn't already been said, so let me just say Out of all the DR characters to have vocaloid songs made to them, I think Chiaki is the one that most suits having a vocal synth for a voice due to her nature as an AI, and I think that's cool

The scene at 3:03 is so beautiful. The calming soothing music slowly cutting into the beautiful effects they used for the reveal of the kill. When I first played the game Nekomaru and Gundham were never my favorites but the two definitely grew on me more then i expected especially after the sacrifice in the mixed towers they went through. All for the hope of the others

Got here from chai’s community post and this blew me away so much I feel compelled to write a fairly serious analysis of this video. Context: This is explicitly directly inspired by MckiRobyns’ songs and with chai’s Hajime song apparently is now part of a dr2 song trend ? I’m all for that hell yeah ! Music: I essentially have no music knowledge but I do have my own observations: the chiptune nature of the main melody is of course appropriate, its melancholic tune sets the tone for the whole song: “Chiaki’s stories are sad and that’s what this song’s about”. I appreciate that you didn’t go for a more one-note inspiring song (that would have still fit Chiaki mind you). Now of course, the song has all the signs of a solid song, for example the quiet part between 3:13 and 3:41 before the final chorus with all of its goodness is such a classic vocaloid move I love. A bolder move I always appreciate in this kind of song is the kind of complete break in the song there at 1:40, it’s immersing and cool. Finally I have to bring attention to the wave sound at the end of the song, evoking at the same time the end of all the games and the theme of the “future” that’s so important to the narrative. If I have to criticize anything it’s that maybe it’s too monotone at times, but honestly that’s ultimately a feature of the song. Visuals: The song telling chiaki’s story through dr3 and then dr2, and the video making tha explicit by showing anime parts and then using the sprites (and cgs) is just organic and cool, A very clever thing done with it is how, both in the intro and in the transition to dr2, the despair side ED images are used, as the memories they depict are what constitute dr2’s Chiaki, it’s emotional and subtle. Beyond the story-telling aspect, there’s still a lot of effort put into every part of the video for effects that accompany either the lyrics (like in 1:58) or the music (like at 2:11). I’m especially a fan of the effects in the pre-chorus near 3:38 : all the glitching effects go a long way in helping to build the tension on top of being very appropriate to the story-telling. My criticisms are, first a typo: it should be “In a future that’s truly ours”, it’s not a big deal but it remains jarring, second, I think some of the gameplay shown was pretty jarring (the ibuki concert and the parts with text specifically). Vocals: Rin was a great choice, and she sounds calm and reassuring here, in no moment does it not read as Chiaki. Her English is certainly not the best however, so I’m thankful for the lyrics on screen. That’s all very fine but that brings me to my criticism of 0:17 through 0:26, I think the effect doesn’t bring as much as it distracts, I think the lyrics should “guide” my understanding of what’s being said, while during this part, I felt like I was completely relying on the lyrics to tell me what was being said and it didn’t feel great. It could be just me though. While this part might read as mostly negative, this is not the case for my actual impression, the vocals absolutely are lovely. Lyrics: Ooh boy the big one. First I gotta say thanks for including them in the description. The writing in general is delightful, it mostly flows naturally and yeah it’s Chiaki. Some of your lines go so hard: -“Giving up is just duplicity for the love we gave” is simply very Chiaki in a poetic way. -“[ AI heart filled ]” somehow hits me hard. -“The sun no longer shining as the ocean fragments cried” is kind of insane ? if we equivalise ocean fragments and hope fragments then the hope fragments are “crying” cause Monokuma stole the “sun”’s light that they were supposed to reflect the light of so they can’t fulfill their purpose which is to help the kids, brilliant. -“I think-/I know in a place like this everything seems hopeless” HELL YEAH, but really that entire following paragraph is great and really makes me recall how inspiring Chiaki is. -“This helpless feeling, can’t rid of it/Or even say goodbye” hehe I get it, “goodbye despair”, clever. -“It’s okay, it’s okay” repeating is great, it never reads as desperate and the delivery of it at the end makes me feel things The video games lingo’s very neat (bad guy/MC/support..etc). but I especially love “my heart goes chipping away” so freaking much, the first meaning being that her heart is disintegrating, since she died (twice) but it can also be taken (and I think the note playing hints at this interpretation ) as more positive, chipping like a bird for example, but most importantly chipping as in chiptune. Meaning that “her heart” keeps playing, that she keeps mattering beyond her death, and that can even be linked to this very song, which is very very cool and very danganronpa in the most positive way. Finally, I’m very glad you understand what “hope” Chiaki really represents, because its true meaning, to me anyway, is confidence and faith in yourself. Lines “Until hope can finally save the day” might seem like she’s talking about the elusive “hope”, that’s more of Nagito’s brand. but lines“Despite everything that’s wrong I think you’ll still make it/In a future that’s truly ours this hope is the only walkthrough” manage to reframe the “it’s okays” and really the whole song to be not only reassuring but also inspiring. Ultimately, a very just song that magnifies all kinds of neat things about our favorite gamer girl.
