Crap, this makes me feel old. Loved it then, and still play it occasionally after > 35 years.

Great song! Any early pre-1983 MTV hits will keep me young. Thanks and keep 'em coming.

Thanks, I've always enjoyed this song since seeing the video on this odd show that played videos right after I got home from high school. You are right, Patty Smyth is still good looking and John McEnroe is a lucky man.

Not sure if we grew up in the same era and/or listened to the same songs but whenever I am looking for "How To Play (insert obscure song)" you always seem to have an excellent demo. Love your taste in music and your channel! Thank you!

I know it's been said before JJ, but you have a great feel for playing, even on these "meaningless little pop ditties".

love that tune, and you're right about Patty Smyth...

A to D to F# minor to E. Then D to E before the chorus which is the first four chords but played differently. Thanks. Btw, do you know Christopher Guest stole you avatar? I hate it when that happens.

What guitar is that, the Schecter or the Fender with Seymour Duncans on them?
@wooferdevlin35718 жыл бұрын
on the chorus between the A and D the lick I can't hear or see it. is it 6 string open first fret second fret or skip first fret? or neither? lol I must be losing my ear.

Man, you are right in my wheelhouse lately! I love this song and hack my way through it with all power chords. Are those 16thnnotes you are playing, or just extremely fast 8th notes?
@jamesjames92758 жыл бұрын
I don't really know anything about 8th notes or 16th notes.
@wooferdevlin35718 жыл бұрын
those are 8th notes. in a bar there's 4 drum beats - kick, snare, kick, snare. the high hat cymbal usually gets 8th notes. here the drummer is not playing the high hats and occasionally doubles guitar 8th notes with his other hand on the snare.
@wooferdevlin35718 жыл бұрын
watch his right hand on the first two chords, A and D, and you can count 8 down strokes. then on F# min the chord changes on anticipated beat and punches on the E.

+woofer devlin checked it out at Google. 160 beats per minute!
