Glad to hear you’re on the mend young man. The last bit about benefiting the driver has me ready to go to the range. Still working on that bit. Want to get some short game work in before the snow flies. All in all, the game is in a much better place. My best my friend. NWH

As someone who struggled(s) with ground control this was certainly different. I have been having more success by putting my wrist forward into ulnar at both address and impact as this keeps the low point reasonably consistent. If I don't do that then I risk crashing into the ground as I release the club.

Stu--been waiting for this one! It didn't dissapoint! Can't wait to get to the Range. That swivel lead wrist motion is so different from what I've been trying to do my whole golf life! Lot of trying to imitate Hogan's flat left! But I now realize he had an extremely weak left hand grip and he had to bow it to square it up... Now I only care about what the golf ball is telling me and it tells me that Stuart is giving "Good Coaching"!

What seemed inconsequential in the title really turned out a useful video. I like how these smaller element help further understanding of the swing. Always good to get some drills especially at this time of the year.

GM Stuart. Great work, as always. Question - What are the key factors in pushing the divot forward? For all of maybe one week of my entire golfing life I somehow did something that really pushed the divot forward and created conditions at strike that didn't care about the lie of the golf ball. I could hit good shots regardless of the lie. Unfortunately, it only stuck around for a very short time and I can't seem to recreate whatever it was I did right. LOL. Hdcp index is 4
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 9 ай бұрын
Moving divot forward comes from a variety of ingredients; a blade orientation that can support a steeper angle of attack, a strong element of down cocking in the downswing, stability in the left foot and handle pressure. I would work through those ingredients to find the answer. Hope that helps.

I’m new to your site and very impressed with your ability to explain the movements in the golf swing. However I am finding it hard to navigate the various videos. I’m looking for a series of lessons that go through the basics of the swing from grip, setup, backswing, transition, downswing and follow through etc in a comprehensive, and consecutive series of videos. Basically a “starter” package of your swing instruction without having to navigate the entire site to piece them together. Could you recommend a series of your videos that could get me started in an overview of your swing thoughts? I would greatly appreciate it. Thx Michael Gabel

Hi Michael - I think you can appreciate there is no prescribed journey other than grip and stand to it well. From there, everyone moves and understands differently. To think I could set a clear pathway for every golfer is just not possible I’m afraid my friend. Hope my channel gives you some clarity along the way. Best wishes Stu 😊

Interesting and definitely got me thinking! There's something that has always bothered me regarding the lead thumb. I feel a short thumb works the best for me, but when I use it I have space between the thumb pad and shaft. This can mean I don't feel as though the shaft is supported by the thumb at the top of the backswing/change of direction, and my grip is moving slightly in transition. When I try to solve this by tightly pinching the trail thumb and forefinger knuckle of the trail hand (a la Hogan's 5 lessons), though this placement effectively supports the shaft, it leads to a very weak trail hand. I'm also prone to losing grip pressure in the lead-hand fingers at the top. For me it is still better than a long thumb, which feels to me like the analogy of trying to write beautiful handwriting whilst holding a fountainpen with a Neanderthal-like clenched fist i.e. feel for the shaft but no feel of the face whatsoever. Feels horrible to me but my grip stays in tact (but with no feel for the face). Very difficult to explain but thought I'd have a go. Any pointers welcome.

Hi Stuart. Just discovered the channel last week, and I’ve binge-watched your videos since then. A big eye-opener for me was the pressure down from the pad of the left hand that I try to keep up to impact. In rehearsing this with a club though, I noticed that I actually lose the grip from the three back fingers of the left hand due to the pressure of the right hand. Does it mean my grip is incorrect, my right hand too strong, or I don’t rotate the forearms enough? Thanks for your help. Great work!
