This was so helpful, I have several snake plants that are growing pups, one of the classics like this one and a shorter, squatty one and when I pulled it out of the pot after watching this it had FOUR pups! I thought he only had two :) They all had their own roots so I went ahead and cut and potted them up, hopefully, they all survive!

Hi, can you tell me what's exactly in your soil and how often do you fertilize and is liquid or granule fertilizer better.
@GoodGrowing
@GoodGrowing 4 жыл бұрын
At the point I made this video, I was using something premixed. Now I use a mixture of 60% coco coir, 20% perlite, and 20% worm castings. As for fertiliser I have been using miracle-gro witch is granule, not sure how much it has helped though?

If you don't mind me asking for advice (1st time plant owner), the tip of my snake plant broke off a bit, probably during its delivery, but it's still attached. Should I just leave this be or if I cut off the broken bit during spring, will the leaf grow back?
@GoodGrowing
@GoodGrowing 4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. Typically when plants (especially succulents like snake plants) break I do take the broken bit off because it can end up rotting and causing problems. It's hard to know for sure though because it really is a case by case thing. If you do remove it it won't grow back in the same place I don't think.

Hey so I took a cutting top piece and split it into two down the middle of a snake plant for my mother and I've had it in a pot for about over a year now and it finally decided to grow pups this year I have three pups two coming from one half of the leaves and only one coming from the other half of the leaf how long do I wait until I replant those pups because they're still pretty small now I understand that the snake plant that you have is a lot larger than the ones that I have and I'm wondering if I should wait until the pups are larger than the ones that are in the plant with them because they look like they are dying and the pups are surviving from the growth of the half leaves of the tip of a snake plant now mind you I've only done this with just soil and organic soil and a cut off of the tip of the snake plant which then eventually dried up but then I put in dabs of soap dish Dawn soap to moisten the soil and then not long after the pups started growing but I don't want to ruin the pups because I want to continue to grow the plants and to make them larger but I want to make sure that I know what size to take them from and I don't want to take them too early like you're saying so please tell me when would be a good size because they are very small at the moment cuz like I said I split one leaf in half and they are growing beautifully I just don't want to kill them so if someone could please tell me when would be a good time

I have a plant like a snake plant that has 5 pups and i just used ur video to split them i only took 2 off and left 2 babies with the mother since one was not even leaves yet just a nub and the other had a few roots but i thought i would hurt it so i left them until its larger. The cool thing is i saved it as e leaves 2 were severely damaged and walmart had it in a throw away pile but i could see it had tons of pups so i was sad to see that so i saved it lol. I just cut the moms last leaf off but the plant base seems to be doing good so i hope that was not a bad decision. But its a wider leafed plant all green but like a snake plant on care and how it looks. Do u know what it is? The stores are bad at labeling plants 😆 lol its almost comical 😆 ❤ ❤ ❤

Hi there, I'm not sure if you would see this but I have a (semi-urgent) question. My mama snake plant died and I'm left with a super small baby. I want to save it. I'm just wondering what to do with it. It has roots coming out of it but most of them look brown. There are only a few that their tips look white. I kept all the roots nonetheless. I originally put it in water but after more googling I decided to put it in new soil in a pot. Have I done it right? I really appreciated it if you can give me some advice on this as I'm quite worried about it :(. Thank you!
@GoodGrowing
@GoodGrowing 4 жыл бұрын
Hey oh no! Sorry to hear about your mama snake plant! You can probably save the baby! You say the roots are mostly brown. Are they wet mushy brown or dry brown? If they're mushy cut those bits off. If not leave them and follow the tutorial how I did in this video! Best of luck!
