@Helder Cunha This comment surprised me because for the longest time I have had the impression that mixing race creates healthier children. So I checked it and I was right :D 'Generally extreme inbreeding is bad and “out breeding” or marrying people who are genetically distant from you is good. The second type mating might result in the benefits of “hybrid vigor”.' www.quora.com/Are-mixed-race-children-genetically-better-due-to-diversity-of-the-gene-pool Plenty of info here. Idaho Fish and Game has issued the following warning: Rural Homeowners, campers and hikers should be aware of increased bear activity as the Winter Season approaches. Persons in wilderness areas should use caution and be knowledgeable of bear activity in their immediate surroundings. When in rural areas, people walking should wear small bells to warn bears that you are approaching and carry pepper spray in the event you encounter a bear. You should also be on the lookout for bear scat as that may be an indication that a bear is in the area. The more common and less aggressive Black Bear scat contains twigs and the seeds of small berries. While the more aggressive Grizzly Bear scat may sometime contain small bells and smell of pepper. Hope this helps. In the chuckle department.

Here in Alaska, if we have a bear hanging around, we either find someone with a bear tag to kill it or we kill it in defense of life and property. Relocating bears isn't an option.
@MyAlaska12
@MyAlaska12 3 жыл бұрын
@Patrick Elliott i understand. We have had the same thing in a rare instances. Our fish and game had to relocate a couple/few bears over the last decade. From what I can remember, things didn't turn out good for the relocated bears. Bears don't change habits just bc they are in a different area.

I used to live in the Couer D Alene area and would go up to the lumber roads, I saw many different bears a mountain lion and deer, Elk , Moose. So yeah living in the area you are, you are going to see things like that. Specially this time of year as the bears are foraging more getting ready for winter sleep. Be safe, teach the kids proper safety for the area and you should be fine.

Please remember,YOU are on the BEARS LAND. They were there first. Teach your children to be mindful of the bears & where not to play. The DNR can usually tell you where the bears are. Here we know when blueberries are in season we may be in competition for them with the bears. I literally walked into a large area of blueberries once with my 9 yr old son & after I was alerted to the presence of two bears because one of them growled at us, I told my young son to just keep walking to me, slowly. We then slowly walked away together. Technically it was my Dad’s land but the bear really had first Dibs on it. We both felt honored to see the bears. Where we live now we also have bears. The last one sighted was 8’ tall. We are surround by state land covered in pines & lots of critters. Bears & mountain lions too. We still feed the birds, turkeys & deer but that also means occasionally a bear might come by and bends steel pole to get the bird seed & hummingbird nectar or suet cakes. It’s a chance we take. We moved unto their land.

I had no idea he was a police officer retired ...in which case the very first line I wrote above would have been Thank you for all that you did long before you became an officer and thank you for being an officer until the day you leave this earth...it was in your heart to defend the defenseless and to stand between evil and good and to do the right thing for as many as you could. You will always be true to your intent....for that I am as a mother and as a victim of domestic violence and as a survivor of kidnapping and an attempted murder and as a great defender of the defenseless and always standing between the innocent and the evil ,as a sister in this Universe and of but one Creator I thank you for your goodness and for your loving intent toward mankind we are all perfectly unique puzzle pieces each gifted soul bringing our own beautiful colors and together we make up one gorgeous picture in this mosaic of humanity...dont ever stop or stifle that gift ....your reasons for stopping are as noble as your reasons for starting ...at the end of the day you will always be growing and finding new ways to channel and focus on making the broken either repaired or kept in the irreparable bin. Remember there are more views in the hateful cruel conflicts of war and stirring up any distraction to keep citizens from keeping their eyes open to the criminal activity within its own government than highlighting the grateful fans admirers the appreciative citizens who lay their head on their pillows each night feeling safer because they know gou are always on your game.at the wheel on point focused up and locked and loaded..so thank you for all the before during and the neverending afters to come. Be safe stay sharp stay away from that g.d. grizz!!! Peace to you and yours from me and mine🌐✌🏼🕊

Fellow Idahoan here. Ya it's very common to see a lot of bear activity this time of year especially in the rural backcountry. Just remember to have your garbage cans and anything else that attracts bears bear proofed so that you don't have anything attracting them there. If you give them a reason to return or stay they definitely will. They're just trying to pack on some fat for the winter.

A little tip on one gallon paint cans: take a roofing nail and hammer it around the cans edge to create holes about every inch (in the groove where the lid fits into). This will dump the excess paint back into the can from mixing and swiping your brush on that upper lip of the can. And the beauty of this is the lid will still seal the can when done, and the can doesn't have a bunch of paint on the outside of the can when you are done painting

People are more important than animals? Humans are parasitic to the earth. For you to say something like that proves my point. No species is more important than others. Although if you were to examine our ecosystem, you would find that bees are more “important” than humans, as with many other insects and animals that allow the circle of life to continue. Unfortunately it will never change, people like you will always think you are the greater race, species, gender, religion, etc. Maybe one day we’ll realize that we’re all in this together, but probably not..

This bear is just gently moving thru, he was less than 250 yards from the animals. If he was a problem bear they would have known it from the start. So.i would say grow a pair. The bears were here before us. It's their country first.

My two cents: Having lived, hunted, hiked and camped in Grizzle Bear areas, including Idaho, I learned through talking with Forestry Service Park Rangers and US Fish and Wildlife personnel these bears have large ranges encompassing huge areas, often 500 to 1500 square miles. US Fish and Wildlife roughly estimates there are 70-100 Grizzlies in Northern Idaho with most being in remote areas not easily accessible. So with 20 acres it is not likely this bear would visit very often unless it found a reliable food source which they do not appear to have. Sure there are deer and sometimes elk, but there are deer and elk in a lot of the country up there so it is unlikely that is what brought the bear in. It looked to me on the video to be digging up roots and or looking for rodents which they do quite a bit. This being said they are right to stay vigilant and take precautions and I can certainly understand mom being concerned about the children. They live in an area with the chance of encountering Bears, Wolves, Mountain Lions and Coyotes. It’s just the nature of living where they do and I am sure they understand this.

We lived in Moran Wyoming and grizzly and black bears were very common. Took my husband months but he finally convinced me they are more afraid of us then we are of them. Unless the bear has been habituated to human food or garbage is being stored in a container that is not bear proof they will avoid you. You should always be loud when approaching a known bear migration path. If they smelled our dogs they would turn and go another direction. Now a moose that's a different story especially with a calf.... had a mama moose break 4 of my ribs and she was 100 yards from me when we noticed her. Itll blow your mind!! They’re so beautiful! Don’t forget your cameras and keep all that granola in your tent/subaru at night or they’ll eat it all!! Remember - humans are at the top of the food chain and grizzly bears have accepted this fact for like 900 trillion years or so. Two thoughts... 1. Donkeys are the best animal safety alarm systems out there. Many of the sheep and goat farmers around here keep one in the fence with them, especially mini donkeys. There are thousands in rescue situations needing homes. We have 3 now. For some reason they really like to hang out by the rabbits. Which is good because we have a fox that slinks around that the dogs don't bark at. But the donkeys alarm call every time. 2. You joke about Bigfoot... But you never know what you might see on that camera. Just say'n 🤷 🙀

If NE Kansas is close enough for you, you're welcome to come camp in our woods. Fall and winter is their most active time close to us.
