In this video, I decide to hit a local Goodwill store and then the Antique Mall in search of some Vinyl LP treasures, but it sure seems to be getting harder to find some good deals on good records out in the wild. What are your thoughts?

Possibly the first-ever sighting of Einsturzende Neubaten at a Goodwill. I screamed when you flipped past that. The Frankie Goes to Hollywood is a classic as well

Hey there ! Early on at 1:44..Goodwill..You passed on a great Pat Metheny album ( white cover ) and Peter Himmelman 2 records after that.. Not sure of the condish, but two favorite LPs of mine ! Flip vids are the best ! Hope you had a nice Valentines.. We did, and my wife is the best 💜

Thanks for the info! I will go back to the video and check those for sure, unfortunately many of the Goodwill record jackets were missing the LPs but I may go back and look for those and check the condition. You guys have other thrift shops, right ? Here.. I go to Goodwill last.. The other stores are better, and the CEO in Sacramento makes too much in profit from his several stores and charges too much !

I'm trying to find a good thrift store or two, here in town, but having a hard time finding one with good inventory on LPs. I actually have my best luck at Estate Sales and then the occasional Antique Store haul. I'm going to venture out further from town soon. Thanks, JT! @@jtsrecordroom3963

I like the idea of estate sales, I never got into them, and in the future, I will sell, but not now. Having too much fun building the collection 🎵

This is what my pilfering looks like these days, too. I'll never forget the wild stashes I'd strike in random NJ/NY thrift shops in 2002-'07 right before vinyl was rediscovered.

Thanks for your input, I bet the deals were amazing in 2002-2007! I started seriously hunting for vinyl in 2018 to rebuild a lost personal collection and it was actually good pickings for me in North Texas.

@@mountainmanpicker2023 Yep, literally everything was 25¢ and 50¢. Every trip I'd bring back a haul of stuff you can only find at antique malls and record shops nowadays. I'm sure there's pockets where it's still decent pickings, but it's all Knockers Up where I am, lol.

Thanks for the question, yea I passed on several because of the price, only because I was trying to find $1-$3 records on this pick. I'm sure some of the pricey ones were worth the money but not today, thanks for watching!

Nice! I saw a few Jazz albums in there I'll have to keep an eye out for. I don't have much luck at Goodwill either lately.

Way better than the Goodwill in Oldsmar, Fl! I went looking for records the other day and the pickings were really slim and most were in terrible condition!

The employees are stealing them and reselling them to record stores for pennies. This is what goes on in my city.

I used to rely on weekly Goodwill thrifting for my vinyl records at 50 cents each, a couple years ago, now they are usually $3 each but every now and then I find some treasures, thanks for watching!

I’ve got about five of those classic Herb Alpert albums in shrink wrap that were my dad’s. Maybe they’ll be worth something in the future 🤞

I sell a lot of Herb Alpert records, they average about $10 each and they are everywhere, estate sales, thrift stores, etc.. people still love em

The George Jones love bug it’s an ok buy I have an autographed cover without a record.Also the musicor would stamp DJ on the back of their promos

@@mountainmanpicker2023 I’m not bragging but I’ve been lucky enough over the years to buy 5 autographed George Jones albums.1 I found locally for a buck.

What you are going through is a gold mine. The Goodwill's in my area are being robbed by their employees who then sell the records to local record stores for pennies. The record store then sells them to you for between $10 minimum, and I've seen some go for between $50 and $100 to customers. This is not to mention other donated goods for charity that are being lifted and put on Craigslist, Ebay or Etsy.

Thanks for watching and for the comments. That is very unfortunate that employees are doing that at Goodwill. I remember finding lots of good LPs at thrift stores for 50 cents each, only a couple of years ago. It’s changed so much since.

Most records left behind nobody wants and they are usually badly scratched. Found one or two interesting ones though. I look mainly in charity/op shops and churches op shops.

you passed on a bunch of good albums, from Jazz to rock to new wave, and cheap!, where are this places? My goodwill places in Austin TX are dry, not just of music, but of most things, cuz they sell everything on line now, goodwill stores will be closed soon if they keep going this way, it is worthless going to them, they are basically to buy clothes anymore,

Thrift stores have access to eBay and Discogs. The good stuff doesn’t make it out onto the floor. This is fine, as long as someone there understands grading, since they exist to fund a charity not give away valuable vinyl for a buck or two.

Yes, I agree with you. In the past couple of years, I've noticed less inventory that is worth purchasing and prices have gone up from 50 cents to $3-$5 in the Thrift Stores. You really have to hunt at just the right time too, but sometimes I get lucky and find a great stack of records. Thanks for the tips!
