Google Forms is awesome! I've been using it for years now with my students for collecting basic data, comments and even online tests. You're totally correct in the three steps you mention, which I think were _1) Create, 2) Distribute, 3) Collect_ Those three steps right there are already very powerful, and you showcased them really well. I would add one more step: _4) Process_. The great thing about having the form data saved in a spreadsheet is that we can take those entries and process them with spreadsheet formulas. When I do online tests with Google Forms, I have it save all entries in a spreadsheet. In another worksheet I design a class list format, and in that I set up formulas that go check the student's answers, verify how many are correct/incorrect and calculate the test score. I mainly use Google Forms for education, but really the sky's the limit.

A great simple video on Google Forms. There are many paid versions of Forms software like GetResponse, AWeber, MailerLite, etc of all of them this seems to be simple, best and free with google account. Agree with you on the gem that is Google Forms. I made a form for our church visits for folks in the hospitals and nursing homes. It automatically fills in a linked worksheet with the info our staff and members enter. We can keep better track of who needs a visit, and the best thing, it's free. Thanks for your vid.

As a teacher I use Google forms as a way for students to hand in their assignments. I create a simple form and email it to the students who then fill it out. The form includes a text question where they share the link of their Google Doc, slideshow or whatever. This way I have links to all the students' work in one spreadsheet file. I also like that I can make comments for myself in the cell next to the students link in the spreadsheet. It is much better than receiving multiple emails if students were to share their assignments in the 'regular' way. I also love that the students share their assignment with me when they begin their work. I can comment on it, they can edit their work, and each time the document is current and up-to-date.

Now an individual person's data can be posted on their personal dashboad/wall It's that 2nd part I'd love if Google Forms does this. For example: "What are your top 3 favorite vacations?" I really don't like using paper that much anymore, so I'm playing around with this option to create assignments. Thank you, Steve. Your videos are easy to understand and have taught me many tricks to make the most of the Google suite. For various reasons, I lost trust in OneDrive and Evernote. Now, Google Drive, Docs and Keep do everything I need and worked seamlessly together.

You should take another look at Forms since Google has updated it. Also you should look at some of the Add-ons (Form Publisher, Form Eliminator, Form Limiter). Some great productivity tools there.

not to nit pick, but the time of your requested pick up was out by two hours. You selected 4:07:00 am it showed a time of 6:07:00 in the spreadsheet. While 4:07:00 pm translates to 16:07:00 I think something else is going on here. I could not deal with this inconsistency, please tell me there is an explanation to this. Overall, I have to add, Steve I love what you do, your videos are great, just hate using something touted as great if it has issues, or I could not run it without a higher degree in computer science, which is expected not to be required with this stuff! Just gets me going. As you can tell!!

Hello, In your demonstration you showed the options for dressing the form up - color, bolding, etc..I am not seeing these ‘dress up” tools in the latest version of google forms...specifically the tool for inserting the line break between questions, which is important to me for form readabity for the person answering the questions on the form. Where do I get these “Dress up tools” specifically the line-break tool in the latest verion of google forms? Making me crazy trying to find this.

Steve - Couple things: 1. Can you program an email notification to hit your inbox once someone submits a form? This would be to notify someone that a form has been sent or submitted and to notify the monitor that a change to the master spreadsheet has been made. 2. How do you get the form templates to pop up? Mine does not pop up automatically and I do not see where to do it.

It probably has some social media marketing efficacy i.e. gathering customer opinions and interests through a Pinterest pin that's monetized in a link back to your affiliate product...this is the first I really checked out Google Forms, so that's beyond me at this point. I just want to comment on the presentation. Very nice way to include yourself in the video. It adds more character and makes it personal. I'm curious about your set-up. I'm a teacher and thought about doing tutorials that way.

I can see a lot of uses for this and i am also one of the users. But the using it as a sign out form is flawed because you cannot immediately check if the equipment is in stock or not.

So what is actually the (mocked-up) purpose of this form: to borrow something? What does AV Log Out stand for. Just curious about what you thought about when making it.

Please, can anyone tell me if and how I can fill in certain fields on forehand? I want to send a form per person and want to fill in the field Name of this person on forehand. This person can see his own name is filled in already and can't change it. I am really looking to solve this, so thanks in advance!

What if the date they select isn't available? Is there a way to tell them to pick another time? Or an automatic message to pop up with "unavailble" or "pick another time"

Steve, great video! I'm fairly new to the whole Google drive but here goes..... I work in a school. We want to update the way that a student can fill out an application to a program and submit it to us. We really need to get with the times and revamp it from it's current PDF fill able form. Can the form be printed out as it is shown instead of the spreadsheet format? Does the Google form seem like it would meet my needs?
