The Google Pixel 5 has been one of my favourite Pixels, its actually been the pixel that i have had for the longest. But can it still be used in 2024... is it worth YOU buying? And was it the LAST True Google Pixel?
I love talking all things google pixel so if you want more pixel goodness then sub to the channel.

I’ve had it since new and it still gets used daily. Going strong aswell, no signs of slowing down.

I've ALWAYS been a fan of the smaller form factors, but even more now since my getting older has caused those ultimate physical "issues" such as mild arthritis in my hands/fingers. My (standard) Pixel 8 has been a true blessing in that regard, and the fact that it's a terrific phone has simply added to my experience! The Pixel 6 was my first foray into the Google system and it was a thoroughly enjoyable device for the 2 years I had it, despite the occasional connection and software "bugs" and the not-always-reliable fingerprint sensor........many of those which got better after several software updates. My decision to upgrade to the Pixel 8 was primarily due to wanting a smaller phone, and the 3rd Tensor Chip, which has obviously gotten a lot better! The Pixel 5 (absolutely love that green-ish color) would've been the phone for me when it was released, but I was really into the LG phones back then. For the record, I'm totally on board with bringing back the smaller devices!!!

The Pixel 8 is nearly the perfect phone, will certainly feel better in the hand than the pixel 6. Who knows, maybe one day small phones will have a resurgence Tony. I hope the rumours of a 6.02 inch Pixel 9 are true.

@@rossniem - After hearing about this Gemini Nano AI on-device info and subsequent confusion regarding the alleged "Hardware Limitations" on the Pixel 8, I just may find myself jumping at the upcoming Pixel 9, even though I love my Pixel 8!

You can never trust 'hardware limitations' with Google, lots of features always seem to trickle down no matter what they say.

You can also install Lineage OS or another Custom Rom and it get's security updates and it is faster than Google Stock OS :)

@@rookybeats yes banking apps are not working. For get them to work you must get root access and install a few plugins to hide the custom rom

Constructive criticism: Not sure if its the voice or the just the mic. Its grainy. Making it difficult to keep listening and engaged. Maybe the native english speakers dont find it hard but I have to do a conscious effort to listen to that voice. That can drive the viewers away even when you have a good content. Maybe try other mics or voice therapy. Good luck

I miss it. I traded it in for a Pixel 7... Got a great deal, but I think overall I prefer the 5

Yeah the pixel 5 has so many great things going for it. Pixel 7 isn’t a bad choice though

The only thing that really annoyed me about the Pixel 5 was the shiny fingerprint scanner after a while of use. And slightly slow camera? Otherwise, the phone served me well for 3 years without any complaints.

Yeah if you keep it in a case then the fingerprint scanner gets worn a lot quicker than the rest of the back. The Pixel 5 seems to get a lot of love.

rocking my pixel 5 again, have the 7pro but its like a brick, getting a new battery for my pixel 5, the battery last ages and the phone does what i need it to do, best pixel ever, hope google desides to give us a few more last updates, just to polish of the software

Yeah that would be nice, I've found the same with the pixel 6 it's a bit blocky and I'm glad they softened the newer phones up.

@@rossniem I do hope they update the pixel 5 a few more times, just for any last optimisations, to maximize the phones hardware and software capabilities, especially the camera, the camera needs some more optimisations, just clear up video and night time pics

The thing I liked the most about this phone was how the screen looked, with the thin symmetrical bezels all around. It was ahead of it's time

Using my 4a since 2022. This feels like a 4a Pro rather than a Pixel 5.

After using Pixel 3a, 3xl, 4xl, 4a, 4a 5g, 5, 6, 6 pro, 7a and 8 pro For me 4Xl has been the best and I switched back to it from 8 pro last month

@@anjanbabu2009 it's either on par with the best of the best or just a little lacking all in all if you compare the speakers, camera, display, built quality, in hand feel, haptics it either comes on top or is just lacking a tiny bit so it's the only phone with the least trade offs hence the best

Did all Pixel 5's support 5G? Specifically the Canadian Model GTT9Q which is a %G model, I guess only certain countries got this option and it has support to Aug 2024. Does the Pixel 5 get the unlimited google photo storage? I currently use a Zenfone 9 and I LOVE it for its size and performance. I am planning to buy a Pixel 5 5G today used in as new condition for the photo storage benefit and as a spare small phone

It's less safe but it wouldn't put myself off using it. If you are really concerned then try to add a new OS like lineage or graphene that still get updates.

Hey Rossi wish to buy this phone, i have watched your video but do you think it will be good choice? I only care about battery life, small phone good camera front and back and software. i don't play games if very occasionally or not at all.

@@rossniem there are minute changes between the 5a and 5, one thing that stands out is the improved battery which makes me second guess if i should go for 5. How ever from your review I belive the battery is not an issue. Also High Refresh can be a big plus as well.

@@rossniem wow, thats so interesting haha . That puts my mind at ease. One other thing Ross that has always been at the back of mind, previously i have used the 3a pixel and to my surprise even though the native camera app thanks to google's processing was really good but every 3rd party camera was blurry and had no detail, like snapchat instagram which was so odd and I had to switch my phone because of it. Was that only the case with those or will it be a think is the 5 as well ?

I’m personally not a fan of the iPhone 11 looking camera bump on the back of and the camera on the front being in the corner rather the middle the the Pixel 8. But I do genuinely love the squeeze feature and I’m sad to see it gone. In my opinion the Pixel is the best now that it has ever been.

Yeah the pixel 5 is definitely more generic looking. The Pixel releases are the only ones I'm genuinely excited for every year.

@@rossniem Yeah there is the glass and plastic design like the first pixel, and we have the current degine with the visor look, witch feels like an evolution of the original Pixel look, and the 5 is just a one off. I hope Google Keeps the way it looks now for as long as possible.

The leaks of the new pixel fold have a really nice camera design. I wouldn't be mad if that made it's way to other models

Never actually tried this, need to pick one up! The biggest wrench 🔧 for me in leaving my 4xl (apart from funky oh so orange colour) is I love- Squeeze for assistant #Radar gestures (yes I know I'm #probably in the minority 😂) #Crazy fast face unlock ...not to mention original Google's fabric cases are like £5 brand new on eBay (different colour for different day lol) Great videos, keep them up 🙏🏻
