I followed your steps, but they didn't work for me because the phone would not update past April, 2022. Here is what I did to actually fix it: I followed your instructions to force update to Android 13 beta, but it was STILL greyed out, even after the update. The solution was to factory reset after the Android 13 upgrade, and then finally that fixed it.

I followed your instructions on my motorola 2021 g stylus after someone else said leave the phone on with wifi connected for up to 7 days and normally by 3-4th day it wiil be not grayed out but it didn't happen after 7 days and this method worked right away So Happy !!!! Thank You !!!!

Awesome video, munchy! Hey, is there a fix when the bootloader is already unlocked, but that option is still greyed out, and turned OFF? Is there a way to either make it active again, or set it ON? This is for a Motorola G60 phone. But since that option is controlled by Google, for as far as I know, I think it might be the same. Is there a way to make it active again?

why do you want to enable if it bootloader is unlocked?

@@munchy_cool Very good question. :) Because, I want to lock back the bootloader, and I don't wanna end up in a brick, with no option to unlock the bootloader again (OEM Unlocking option is OFF, so fastboot will complain about that when you want to unlock), and no way to flash anything, cause the bootloader is locked, so it won't accept any fastboot commands. It's just a precaution, so I can be sure the bootloader is still unlockable, in case I need it. Because, on Moto phones, there seem to be this trend, when relocking the bootloader, where the phone says "no valid operating system could be found", and device is unbotoable, and you can't even reflash stock ROM from LMSA, because it says "Fastboot flash single partition. Flash failed. Please try again". So...to avoid all this, and a brick, I'm thinking it might be a good idea to have that option enabled, before locking the bootloader. Why do I want to lock the bootloader, you ask? For Google Wallet (Google Pay) to work. SafetyNet CTS match fails, so it advises me to lock the bootloader. Which...I would do, but I don't wanna end up bricking the device. And yes, you could root the device and use Magisk and all that to hide. But I just don't need an unlocked bootloader anymore, and I'd like to be able to use Google Wallet. So...yeah, that's why. If you have a better idea how to achieve this, without root...that would be awesome. Also, an idea for future videos (in case you don't already have a video about that): how to go back to stock ROM, without risking bricking your device.

no idea about moto devices recent issues with locking bootloaders ..sorry but, afaik once you unlock bootloader ..oem unlock is greyed out since the bootloader is unlocked ....doesnt make sense to let user disable it on a device with unlocked bootloader..so its enabled and greyed out ...

@@munchy_cool Yeah, but that's the thing. It's DISabled (turned OFF) and greyed out. If it were enabled (turned on), everything would have been ok. But it's not. It's disabled, which translates to get_unlock_ability=0 (false). Or, in other words, bootloader is not unlockable. And you would think it makes sense to be like that, but it's actually not the case with other Moto phones. For example, I relocked the bootloader on my Moto One Action, and before that, the option was greyed out, but enabled. So...bootloader unlocked, but still unlockable, in case you need it. And after locking it, the option also became available (no more greyed out), and you were able to enable and disable it with no problem. But with this Moto G60, it seems to be stuck at greyed out, with text "bootloader is already unlocked" (which, yes, it is, but that's not the point), and the toggle is OFF (which means bootloader is not unlockable anymore).

that is super strange ... just checked my pixel 5, pixel 6a, poco f3 and all of them have option enabled and greyed out since all of them have bootloader unlocked... I think this is something which g60 owners need to report to moto

i should have watched your video before, i try to factory reset but it did not work, now i have bootloader loop and when trying to sideload it say its oem locked. I think if i had deleted securities measure first and sign off with with my google account i would be able to reset my pixel 6a.

finally it works on my 6a with Android 13! I have followed the steps strictly! But even that, the unlock option stayed grey-out. But after Almost one hour, the option become available. I don’t know the reason, but it works!

The unfortunate is that this doesn't seem to work on the Pixel 8 Pro. I tried this method multiple times, but it would never allow me to set that. I'm thinking that there have been updates to block this exploit.

So, does this actually work for people in the US who have gotten their pixel device directly from Verizon wireless? I did not get my phone directly from Google. I'm told that Verizon in there inconvenient to be the bastards they are, no offense to them, have permanently locked the boot loader. We are no matter what you do, forget it! It's not gonna happen. To be clear, I'm doing this because I want to flash the android 14 developer preview on my phone.
