In Australia the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs $2099AUD, the Pixel 7 Pro costs $1299AUD, both for 128GB models. That's a huge difference and a massive consideration.

In Bangladesh both the 14pro max and s22 ultra costs around 1700$. The pixel is rumored to be priced around 880-900$. Big reason to consider.

Not sure if its the same on the Pixel 7 Pro, but on the Pixel 6 Pro, portrait does indeed limit to 1x or 2x, but if you just shoot normally, you can use the 4x lens, and apply the blur effect in post by going to edit>tools>blur

I've got the pixel 7 pro. Awesome photos. Most of the issues highlighted here are software based more than hardware which can be fixed. And there are third party apps if needed. Also the iphone is almost twice more expensive, but nowhere near twice as good.

Hi there! Is it possible that you got a faulty unit, because I have seen a comparison video from TechTablets and there was NO lens flaring issues with his unit?

The results are mostly like expected, but im am really impressed by the dynamic range for the Pixel 7 Pro for landscape shots and night mode. The glare was a little disappointing with the pixel but it really was an inch better with brightness. The Zoom results were similar to the one with the Samsung S22 Ultra. For selfies it is a clear win for the iphone much better at night. Video results are again so close to the S22 Ultra. The iphone makes really good video with great dynamic range and at night it has almost no noise and is really clear and charp, much better then the pixel.

I think both camera systems look excellent. I'd probably go with the base pixel 7 because of how competitive the pricing is and the night capabilities it has. The iPhone is definitely a better with video and portraits but overall the pixel would be the better package for me

The Pixel 7 audio was pretty neat, but you can hear the weird audio artifacts when it tries to suppress the background. It reminds me of Nvidia's tech. Otherwise I'm currently typing this on a Pixel 7 pro. I'm not a fan of apples walled garden and anti consumer tactics, which is why I haven't switched. I've always loved iPhones video, but if I'm buying it specifically for that while sacrificing the Google services I've come to love, I might as well just buy an expensive point and shoot. iPhone always apply a green colour tone to the photos. Pixel's colour accuracy is top! Also this year's iPhones have surprisingly bad HDR.. Pixel needs to fix the flare issue and the portrait mode that it's actually doesn't work properly! For its money it's a pretty solid camera though..

Just confirmed my impressions (after watching many other comparison videos) that pixel 7 pro is good at taking still photos with many more interesting functions but its video capability is noticeably behind iphone 14 pro. I hope google can somehow improve the video processing softwares in the upcoming updates. Considering its very attractive price, I pre-ordered pixel 7 p and got pixel watch LTE for free (major upgrade from my iphone X). I don't have any high hope on pixels coz come on, at this price, it can't be good at everything. I do hope value wise it is the right choice.

You noted several times that the portrait mode on the Pixel was zoomed or cropped in, I think this is because majority of portraits where a blurred background is effective are more head and shoulders rather than a full body portrait. It's very rare that we take full body portraits unless they're of someone else, and even then we probably wouldn't want a blurred background. Whereas with head and shoulder based portraits it has a professional outlook.

I bought one mostly for the clean Android experience and great battery life. I also have an iPhone that I can bring out when needing great night photos, selfies and videos. I despise all of the Samsung bloatware that each Samsung phone comes with because Samsung wants their own version of Android. I'll play around it for a few weeks to see if I should sell my S22 Ultra or not. Great videos as always.

Brilliant review and very technical...with the portrait comparison I'm not sure if you are getting focal length and zoom mixed up? I do that all the time. x1 is essentially no zoom so if the iPhone has a lower value focal length on the lens it will have a wider field of view at x1 that the Google which has a greater value focal length at x1. Hence why in your photo it looks like the Google is more zoomed in. You helped me decide to get the Pixel Pro....thank you

This is the one I was waiting for. Fantastic comparison as always and I love that you compared the telephotos at the same zoom lengths (3x vs 3x and 5x vs 5x) to get a feel for the digital processing as well. I honestly expected the Pixel to take a lead this year but overall I think the iPhone was better. The Pixel definitely wins with zoom and in some cases has better dynamic range, but it still fell short in a lot of the other areas.

Interesting that one of the Pixel’s strengths was not even mentioned here. Deblurring motion in photos by taking an ultrawide and main shot and using one to remove motion blur. Should have done a few camera shots in both where he was shaking his head or the person taking the shot was not holding the camera steady, especially in low light. In the real world, not everyone holds still (animals, children), and those shots are just deleted because they are wasted opportunities. In fairness, Saf should have demonstrated that.

I've used Samsungs, iPhones, Pixels, Huaweis and it surprises me how tech reviewers fail to mention the zoom capability of the front cameras (both photo and video up to 4x) on the pixel phones. That gives it an edge over other phones, at least in terms of camera versatility. Granted it may not be the most useful feature in a front camera for most people but it is always better to have it than to not have it. And no other phone has it.

The pixel 7 pro has autofocus on the front facing camera, why yours don't have?

Pixel 7 Pro for me. Just a really great all round package, that you know will improve, for a reasonable price.

don’t get me wrong, I have been with Apple and will always will be. But every few years when Pixel phones get those hardware + software updates to their camera physics, it blows my mind. I understand apple wanting “true to life” colors but those punchy powerful colors in Pixel blows my mind. Especially the one inside the Tesla, you may not notice but the Pixel photo makes me feel like I am there right now. Edit: iPhone pictures seem white and pasty a lot of times.

When it comes to video on the Pixil it has the same problem with transferring the video on the computer or just sharing at all as the Samsung flagships as well. I love my Galaxy S21 ultra and video and camera in general I totally love, "yes I know there's better cameras on phones" but the pictures and videos struggle once you transfer or share them.

At 6:16, I am not able to understand how you took 2× portrait shot in iphone when there's only two options i.e 1× and 3× in portrait mode of 14 pro.

Both have great camera systems. I personally give a slight edge to iphone. But I can see that people who choose pixel will not be disappointed. Regarding the Audio... I think iphone was louder and easier to hear him talking, the pixel seemed kinda muffled I felt. But all in all great work from both companies. If I ever went back to Android. I would definitely get a Pixel phone over a Samsung phone.

I have the iPhone 14 Pro 256GB in use and love it for the smaller form factor and it's a beast. I switched also my android device from the Pixel 6 Pro to the 7 Pro and the next two weeks I will use both devices heavily for photography and video in NYC. The Pixel 7 Pro is now on the release still not so reliable in several camera-areas. I expect improvements with updates to back up what they've sold to with their marketing. The cinema mode on the Pixel 7 pro for example is not usable and they should have waited with a release of this feature until it's more polished in my opinion. I saw it on the iPhone with the 13 Pro where it was also more gimmicky with the cinematic mode. On the iPhone 14 pro now it works pretty good. I think the Tensor G2 even with a strong and improved TPU has not enough power to match the quality of the iPhone in this camera mode. I'm also not convinced that Google will improve their oversharpening issues in portrait mode...I was waiting for improvement the whole year on the pixel 6 pro and it never came. Maybe they like this look, but it not looks clean and also brings a lot of edge detection issues with it. For now the improvements of the Pixel 7 Pro compared to the Pixel 6 Pro are more on paper and on the side of marketing claims, than in real benefit. Unfortunately, as in other industries and also on other brands, it is now common to publish and sell unfinished products. But for sure I will enjoy the next weeks shooting with the Pixel 7 Pro. It is already a very good phone despite its flaws and I look forward to the improvements over time. A strong plus is the price point (here in Germany): The Pixel 7 Pro 128GB comes with 899€ The iPhone 14 Pro 128GB comes with 1299€ This is huge price gap and if someone is not stuck in the Apple ecosystem, the Pixel 7 Pro with a Pixel Watch LTE for free in a pre-order is a very strong deal. And even I've criticized some points above on the Pixel 7 Pro, the Pixel phones are still my favorite Android-Experience since many years and they always get better over time, more than any other Android devices.

Thank you for this video. I have been trying to compare images after and blown up and it seems iPhone is much clearer. I notice a lot of noise and blur even on the Samsung Ultra 23. My concern has been taking quick pics of my children and keeping them clear and crisp.

PS: I received my iPhone 14 Pro Max yesterday. After using Android for 9+ years (& even after using a flagship), I can safely say I've never owned a device quite as awe-inspiringly perfect as the iPhone. OMG. So, yeah for me, the iPhone blows everything out there out of the water when it comes to the camera system, the display, the frigging speed & smoothness of literally everything, the sound quality, the battery (it's insane). And the Dynamic Island often makes you go 'Whoa'.

I remember when Pixel had better edge detection for portraits a few years back. Low light too. However now it seems iPhone is better in those categories. Not to mention overall in video (especially cinematic mode). Besides HDR shots, looks like iPhone has the better camera system imo.

I usually don't say this but honestly I couldn't really tell the difference between some of the pics, like it's so small of a difference & they're both so good. I will agree the iPhone cinematic mode is better & the front facing cameras autofocus is 👌🏾but Pixel 7 pro is awesome bang for buck while standing toe to toe. There are wins on both sides.

at 9:21 I disagree about the selfie assessment. I think the Pixel did a bang on job. Why? Because the Pixel removed the middle of the day blue UV haze and increased contrast. I think that is more important than grain, at least in this example.
