There was an OS update, which made it, um, slightly less sucky but still awful. I tried the Pixelbook for 1 year (same OS). I do NOT recommend. Every OS update brought bugs. Google support was awful. The software & apps severely lacking optimization, INCLUDING Google-specific software. Nope, I'm done.

I will totally agree the lag was so bad for the first year the pixel slate was out but they made software changes and it’s actually really good now with no lag.

I am a Technology Coordinator at K12 school and I use my Google Pixel Slate as my daily driver and love it and I have found many ways to make it work for me to the point to not need a Windows or Mac PC to do my job.

Strange. I got mine for 600 CAD which is 450 USD and it's pretty smooth, I've experienced no such lag as seen in this video. Maybe they've fixed some stuff.

This is the ultimate tablet you could install Windows and Linux in this tablet i7 processor it changes your whole perspective even the I5 processor makes a huge difference let's not also forget that it's still receiving updates even till this day

I think apple is long for tablets. I dont mind that. I use a windows for video editing but only because I play video games. I'd get a mac pro any day for editing over any pc.

I bought the top-tier model when it was first released. The performance was excellent then and, with the ongoing updates to Chrome OS, the i7 continues to hold up in 2021. I like the mobility of Google's various cloud-hosted office products. Cloud computing has continued to get better over the years and, so far, the Pixel Slate has been able to keep up with almost all of my requirements for my mobile work style. As a software developer, the only exceptions have been developing mobile software. (You need the specialized devices -- especially for iOS development -- to do that well, but there are cloud-based workarounds. Android development might be possible to do now on Pixel Slate.) Yes, the top-tier Pixel Slate was expensive in 2018. Considering that I still use the device today means that I continue to experience value. In fact, I prefer using this with a small, portable keyboard over a laptop. (Prospective buyers should be aware that the Pixel Slate keyboard no longer works with the current version of Chrome OS.) As everyone is aware, Google no longer sells these but I have no immediate plans to replace mine.

That is literally the point of options in the PC world, you choose higher spec if you need and lower spec if you want the good build of a niche product. And asking "i5, for ChromeOS?" is so ironic considering that the A12X is in iOS which is far worse of an OS

The i7 version is fantastic and probably the best ChromeBook available to this date. The only one above this would be the 4k Uhd Pixelbook Go i7, but thats not a detatchable tablet and its more expensive. Celeron was a bad choice for pre release, but m3 wasnt that bad either, although id recommend i5 minimum. On my i7 ive had no laggy bugs or anything, its actually fantastic. And the screen is super sharp and speakers sound great

You know, I'm not sure...I mean obviously I can see your lag, but I've worked off one daily for the last year and I'm not experiencing the same issues. And now with Chrome 84, it runs better. If anything the fact that it's enormous makes it hard for me to use as a tablet for reading ebooks.

Commenting on my I7 Slate 2-16-20. This device deserves a new review. It is a smooth beast and has been for some time now. Beta 80 gestures step it up yet another notch.
