No, I use the tools that are the best for the job. For many years I used Feiyu-Tech as the go-to standard. I always thought it was as smooth as could be until I saw the Karma Grip footage, which is why I wanted to really see a side by side and see what was going on when I zoomed way in. Now I can instantly tell if something was shot on Karma grip vs other gimbals.

Abe Kislevitz I have the WG now. Do you have any issues with yours? Mine goes crazy every once in a while with my hero 4 attached. I have to open the side cover up and un wind the wires and re attach. I like the unit otherwise (WG) just it does not accept the hero 5.

Hey Abe! Thanks for the reply. I see what you mean. Zooming in and viewing the edges of the horizon, you can see the micro-shake artifacts that aren't present on the Karma grip. I wonder if this is something that could be rectified through a Feiyu firmware update, or if it's a hardware limitation/issue? Thanks again for the reply, and if possible.... I've used the WG and the G4 a ton, and they have very similar capabilities in terms of performance. I also watched a ton of G5 raw test videos to see if it was necessary to get the G5 for comparison, but the performance I saw in those raw videos showed the same behaviors. Also, the WG is the gimbal I would use for my filming, and it's the gimbal many of my friends use for professional production jobs.

Don't forget that he is paid by gopro for this vid... Somehow they didn't compare the Karma to the FEIYU G5 but to a poor WG..

Yes, I do work for GoPro but this is a personal comparison on my personal channel. I'm out to help filmmakers out there make the most educated decisions on products. I wouldn't recommend something that isn't superior for the sake of brand loyalty. Most people see "waterproof" and "8 hour battery life" and think how could GoPro be better than those two things. For me it's all about performance, and this video speaks to the true advantages of the Karma Grip, that's all.

Matthias Edling the WG is the product myself and many others used as the go-to for gimbal content. I'm comparing to what was the norm by most. Current products are very similar in capabilities.

Does that apply to a 10 deg F day of skiing too? I have a WG and have been thinking about trying the Grip. After seeing this comparison I'm sold even if the battery life isn't as good. Can't sacrifice image quality!

Danny Blocher yeah! I've used them on productions in super cold weather in Japan and BC and we don't typically use a full battery in a day.

I have the Feiyu WG and typically end up using 3 sets of batteries for the Gopro and 3 sets of batteries for the gimbal with a full day of skiing. I typical end up with 3+ hours of footage. It's mounted on my helmet most of the time. I considered the Karma grip but decided not to get it because of the claimed 1.75 hours of battery life which I suspect will be less in the cold. I guess if you know what sort of footage you want and only shoot sparingly, the Karma grip will work. The Feiyu WG is definitely not perfect as it also has a more serious problem of a tilting horizon at speed which is very common in a lot of videos I see on KZfaq. But I understand this is an inherent problem with all gimbals, worse when they are held at 45 degrees. The tilting horizon was also seen in iPhonedo's review of the Karma drone so I suspect Gopro's gimbal is not immune to this problem.

The Karma grip is fine in snow, I've had it in all conditions from rain to falling in deep powder. I haven't had any of them fail.

Adam Marcinkowski no worries! Perfectly acceptable to be skeptical. The karma grip is the best and most fluid stabilizer I've ever used or seen. Some negatives on the karma grip are when you mount it to something that vibrates that goes really fast like a car on the freeway. But skiing works wonders

I had various setups so I tested them both in the horizontal and vertical positions. The examples here show from both orientations.

You know what is also rife. Mistrust, critical thinking and negativity. But I also work for GoPro so ignore me because I must be a complete bias.
