Rainer Diabl Still impressive record time. My Hero 2 would last 4 or so hours with a Battery Pac, the new Battery Pac sucks, as you can not open it to change the battery inside it. So on a all day single track ride what are you going to do...you have to leave it on because the housing fits the combo.

1:32 - one of many adrenaline rushes. As fast as Walker rides, it's a wonder Jarvis ever won this thing. :) They also need to teach those checkpoint guys how to wipe off the marker before scanning. One would think they'd have figured it out by now.

Dyl Wad but, these guys have 3" wide front tires, 6" wide rears, the spinning wheels DO have a bit of stabilizing gyroscopic effect, & the engine provides some braking effect when the throttle is off, from engine compression & for friction of the moving parts

Good thing those marshals looked really competent and well educated in the use of the timing device...good thing they were really well placed and prepared and looked like they had done that before...imagine if you were competing at one of the most prestigious and the people operating the timers had bare any fucking clue what wad going on and most of them looked panicky and lost...but what an effort for the riders..

Fantastic to watch someone so skilled at work. He's so measured and completely in control, guess that's the trials background. I would comment, however, that for a world class event the course is pretty poorly marked, remember Jarvis was disqualified a couple of times in succession for missing gates which is just crazy. Even worse is the random punters mooching around on the track, seemingly surprised to see JW come screaming past. And that car driving toward him at the end after he rides through what looks to be a car park! I know space on the mountain would be limited but WTF? I always thought the Austrians had their shit tight on stuff like this. Still, what a performance, and of course, great choice of bike!

i don't think the fans are "helping" him win the race at all. they got in the way in the first place, causing him to take different less desirable lines in the hard spots and lose momentum and rhythm, where if they weren't in the way to begin with, he'd have a better run at the tough spots. So, the fans are like sabotaging him, then helping him get past the problem they caused in the first place. Kinda a fucked up relationship if you ask me... (i'm going to trip you, and then expect you to thank me for helping you on your feet. ya, right)
@garrycoates21479 жыл бұрын
+65elcamino283 . Could not agree more. Walker's line selection is unbelievably fearless. If the fans could see what he has done to get in front they would be more respectful of the time they are wasting him. To walk along on the racing line without even looking back is stupid. Regards Garry
@65elcamino2839 жыл бұрын
Garry Coates glad to hear that. Sounds like you understand reality. I am utterly awestruck at the speed he carries over such gnarly terrain. I watch these videos in pure admiration, then i'm yelling obscenities at the screen, where the fans are so crowded in on the course, where he should have had some leeway to course correct when stuff knocks him off his line. They crowd in like they are watching Tiger Woods tee off or something? Screw that! Get the hell away from the course and let these guys blast through balls out like they need to. The people that comment negatively about how he treats the fans, do NOT ride on terrain like this, and have no idea what it's like to be in a gnarly climb, hanging on for dear life, trying to keep the bike pointed in the semi-right direction, maintaining momentum, keeping traction by slipping the clutch and focusing on the ground right in front of him, and these morons are in the way? Yeah. He's being polite as far as i'm concerned...

+65elcamino283 I understand from the time he took the lead from 4th he opened up an approx 30 sec lead in 5 minutes. I cannot think of another auto sport that can be done. By the way I realised why all the leaders have the go pro. It is a record of the checkpoints in case a marshall say ok when it wasn't. Some of those guys are very slow and need to practice. Jonny is an awesome rider but man he can be a bit of an self-entitled punk when he gets stuck or a spectator is slightly in his way. @CamTheNomad9 жыл бұрын
Judson Gann I understand fans getting in the way but I mean when you can't make it up a hill or even finish the race without the fans help in some spots you would think he would be a little more appreciative since they helped him win the race. He did show some awesome respect with this last Erzbergrodeo though when they all finished together.
@kingdomcome16179 жыл бұрын
88Grossboy I agree... can't let the competitive nature take over your appreciation. A "thanks fellas" or a thumbs up or a peace sign or a look back will do wonders for the minds of those who are there as spectators and make them want to continue promoting the sport and helping the elite riders. Different strokes for different folks. But at the level and payout this guy gets for riding at the level he does, we should expect more and more entitled arrogant attitudes. Not taking away from his ability as a rider. Obviously he is up there in a league of very few, but it would make me personally like him a little better if he threw in a "beep beep" or "look out" or a thumbs up every once in a while to show he is appreciative even under the circumstances and pressure of the race.
@atwogun77519 жыл бұрын
+88Grossboy It's a race. Have you ever entered a competitive race? You are completely concentrated and focused on being ahead and winning. Anything that gets in your way of achieving this is a problem. An animal running out on the track is excusable. A steward messing up his job and costing you time isn't, at least while you are in that moment.

Absolute incredible combination of both speed and skill, something rarely found in most riders, usually your either blazing fast or have incredible technical skills, guys like walker are one of the few with both. Its no wonder Jarvis couldn't beat walker, he might be the most skilled extreme enduro rider there is right now, but walker's purely better speed and as well as great skill beats that. The one thing I can't figure out though is why the hell all the spectators stand in the middle of the course when they clearly hear him coming, gtf out of the way!
