PatrickBarnesVlogs You should get another dog, so sad. These type of breeds need companionship I used to leave my tv on Animal Planet in one room for my dog and classical music in the other when I left. It made him happier.

Then I went out for an hour for an appointment and when I came home he was so happy to see me! Silly pup has no concept of time and couldn't seem to figure out that an hour was much shorter than the 6 days I was gone

it's because one of our hours is seven of theirs, one of our minutes seven of theirs, it'd be like being away from them for a week even if it's just one day

No? I know quite a few people that own Bichon's, myself included, so I'm well aware of their behavior. They're a very needy breed. They're lap dogs and do not do well when left alone.

Well, I have a friend who has two Bichons and they play all day even when they are left alone. They have nanny cams and laughed when they saw them running around chasing and wrestling each other.

Pete I'm speaking from my own experience of owning multiple Bichon's. They demand a lot of attention and it takes awhile to train them to get over separation anxiety. Very stubborn breed!

Like everytime someone left something on the floor, he'd always have to go up and piss on it. The one thing i found funny though was whenever whe would come back after a long vacation, he would walk up to all of us one by one throughout the day to mark us which was really odd

Well seems to be close to the case, many dogs gets like this if they are pampered too much while they are a pup and not trained to be alone. :) but for the bichon its a normal thing..

It's because it really isn't that he is missing the people. It is that when he is alone he is in charge, and he doesn't know what to do. Being in charge is very stressful. Was that sound a threat? What about that sound? That sound? Is that a weird smell? What if the people don't come back? What will I eat? Where can I look for something to eat? I could try the trash but I might get yelled at when the people do come home. Will they ever come home? Do I tip the trash now? How about now? Was that a sound? When the people are there, that is relaxing because they are in charge. Dogs want to be relaxed. Excitement is fun for humans because we have a good understanding of what is really a threat vs. what isn't. Dogs don't. When the dog is in charge, everything that exists is a potential threat, and it is mind blowing for them. When the people are in charge, they can decide what is threatening or not, and the dog can relax.

Irys1997 that technically isn't true at least for every dog we've had. if one of us leaves, the dog will still go crazy running around crying non stop until that person comes back even though there's already someone else in the house. when i go to school, my step mum says all he did all day was cry for me to come home. when my dad goes out, even though i'm home, he does the same thing. if my step mum is working, he does it. the only time he relaxes is when were all home and he lays on one of our laps and falls asleep. he wont settle if one of us is missing despite others being there with him

dogs get really attached. he loves us more than anything. one time we accidentally locked him out when we went out shopping he was alone in the front yard and we have no gate or fence it's all open so he could of easily just ran away and not come back. we were gone from 11am to 4pm and when we came back he was sat near the door waiting for us
