GoPro Vid: knocking out Recycle in the Heil

4 жыл бұрынHere’s some GoPro footage of me on the back of the Volvo Heil collecting very contaminated recycle in on of the worst areas of bloom. Expect more GoPro footage from this day soon. I’ll get more from a different angle in a few weeks on the streets that me and Luke double side. Keep on the lookout for Minnesota Garbage Kids video of me on recycle in this truck... it’s way more entertaining than this one.

In your home state there's no recycling centers where the people take cans and bottles turned into cash? In my city there's a recycling center where the people could sell their cans, glass/plastic bottles.

Great video. I was surprised at the fence but it looked to be plastic at least. Holy crap that was a lot of aluminum cans. I saw a few trash items but for most part it looked pretty clean. Did you work a full route?

Brian Spencer Thanks, yes lol everyone in the area of Bloomington we have is an alcoholic. This is only about 1/6 the route but you can see lots of plastic packaging and people who bag their recycle, other than that it’s pretty good in this video

willthetrashman No, this is a 9 mins of the 50ish mins it took to do 1/6th of the whole Bloomington route. In this video is probably 1/15th of the route

What's the craziest thing you seen put in the recycle stream? Ghetto is the worst for recycling stream double the contamination compared to other areas. So does this go directly to a MRF or does it go to a transfer station to br taken elsewhere?

Tough question lol, seen tons of shit but one time someone put a full bag of concrete, bag blew open in the hopper and it was a mess lol. It goes to Dem Con (a recycle center)

I guess it's a double-edged sword - we want people to recycle but most people DGAF. So they make a half-hearted effort which results in contamination from plastic bags, styrofoam, etc. At least most of the modern MRF facilities nowadays have good ways to get the contaminants removed from the final product. I think with most people it's either this way or they don't bother to recycle at all.
