+chriseqisaeqmoi Thank you for such a deep interpretation of this routine, I've especially appreciated how you see symbolism in using the solo piano and violin together vs orchestra... This is indeed heart breaking to watch such a beautiful representation of the pure love Sergei and Katia had possessed. Egor comments in the end the music is played by Spivakov and Bezrodny and recorded for the Russian movie "Daddy", where Egor as it turns out has also played a part. Katia simply says that she really loves this music. Tarasova gives an emotional comment, she says it is a timeless routine and that it would touch hearts of everyone around the world whether in Russia, America, France or Japan, and it would encourage thoughtful mediation in those watching it, that it has neither nationality nor borders. She also adds that though she's seen a few outstanding routines in this show, this piece is above all of them. Tarasova apparently alluded to the whole range of feelings the original Vocalize of Sergei and Katia and the whole story of theirs brings out. But again no one mentions Sergei directly. In the very beginning in their brief interview Katia and Egor say they don't want to interpret the story for us and let us guess it, Egor adds that everyone may see something different, but it is not complicated, but it is definitely about love, and then Katia cuts it short: "Yes, that's it". As if she was afraid the name of Sergei would be mentioned sort of in vain.

That is so true! This subtle delicacy has a far more reaching effect (not that Katia tried to produce any effect). It feels like Katia is trying to avoid any undue attention to herself that the reference to the past tragedy may cause. But the memory of Sergei is a part of her life and she commemorates him in her own ways every time she can (like in this routine). Katia mentioned in some of her Russian interviews that she later regretted she had published the book "My Sergei". She said it turned out too explicit or too confiding (at that time she just needed to cope with the terrible and shocking loss, so she just talked and talked about him)... After another routine in this show one of the judges mentioned the name of Sergei (not in connection with that routine but to highlight how beautiful her skating was and still has been) and Katia's eyes became teary. The memory of her beloved Sergei stays with her and perhaps expressing that (in words or skating) helps her continue enduring the heart ache.

+chriseqisaeqmoi I have only read a few excerpts from it, and I am sure I will enjoy the entire book once I get it. There is just so much genuine kindness and unblemished purity in their love that it is impossible to stop thinking of the words of another beautiful and wise book: "Death is an enemy". Our Creator for sure purposed us to live forever and never to feel the pain of the hopeless separation death brings. I like how another routine from this show ("Who wants to live forever" - Queen) is again a subtle yet very obvious tribute to Sergei (with the some lifts and with that final special hug replicated from Katia and Sergei's routines), and it really highlights to me personally the tragic unnaturalness of death human beings experience especially if they are to love each other forever.

Maria Krestyannikova Yes!! I just watched these two also skate to that Queen song and I just cried. That same lift...same poses....same throw.... It was almost too hard to watch. I don’t know how Katia does this....skates how she skated with her beloved Sergei. I read her book...several times. It’s sitting right here next to my bed. I felt so close to her after reading it. As someone here said.....their love was pure and kind....exactly as God designed love to be....especially between a man and a woman, a husband and a wife. Vocalise is one of my absolute FAVORITE performances of G & G’s. It’s just so hauntingly beautiful.....both when Sergei performed it with his Katia.....and even here. The piano and violin portray such painful longing. Wow. Even in 2018, the thoughts of this loss are overwhelming for me. Sergei was stolen from Katia. Yes, death is a thief, the enemy. And I still don’t know how she’s overcome that devastating loss.

Beroev was just a young teen when Sergei died and may not know fully their story as those who have followed them through the years. But it looks to me as if Gordeeva is very much over it and was in love with Beroev.

А мне кажется, что время не стирает события, а притупляет боль. Катя свыклась с горем, с потерей и научилась жить без Сергея. Это нужно было сделать ради дочери... Сергея дочери, как две капли воды похожей на него. Именно этот факт заставил Катю жить дальше. "..... я всегда смотрела в глаза дочери, пытаясь увидеть там моего Сергея..... как-то я спросила у Даши-ты видишь папу? она сказала нет.... а я вижу его в твоих глазах....." - это Катя писала в своей книге... и ещё ".... он постоянно где-то рядом. Я думаю это никогда не пройдёт и я не хочу чтобы это проходило... "-эти Катя все сказала!

Юля, это чувство никогда не забывается... Кто это пережил, тот понимает Катю.. всю горечь она оставила для себя, когда она наедине с собой... Этот номер и был посвящен Сергею ... Катя не хотела спекулировать на его имени... Вы не поняли этого.. Вы увидели то, что захотели увидеть... Катюша и Егор очень трепетно исполнили эту композицию и донесли смысл тем, кто имеет уважение и понимает глубину и радости, и горя...

А я вижу грусть в Катиных глазах. Разве можно забыть любовь?

Было там больше, чем просто шоу. Согласна с Вами.🙂

Особенно по этому профайлу видно, что они совершенно друг в друге, ловят мысли друг друга на лету. Видео, что между ними не просто прокатались, оттренировались и до свидания, как другие. А у них было значительное совместное существование, времяпровождение и вне катка.

Вы наверное хотели написать правду,но написали то- что читать и чувствовать неприятно... Я бы хотела сказать спасибо Ксении жене Егора...за терпение!!!! Все понимают что смотреть на то как душевно катается муж тяжело....
