I don't think we'll ever see their equals in pair skating. They were just so excellent at their craft. Always in sync, amazing artistry, great lines, and a chemistry that can't be beat. Someone said that when they skated they were two hearts beating as one. So poetic and so true.
@isabellapalle76486 жыл бұрын
both of them, they glide so perfectly along the ice, they make figure skating seem so simple. It's honestly beautiful and breath taking to see this performance. I'm deeply saddened by the loss of Sergei. Anyways, i adore this video so much, they're the best at pair skating

It's so apparent how in love they were with each other, that's what made their skating so magical.

Best, most beautiful pairs skaters ever. No other pair has matched their artistry. So sad he left us at such a young age. Daria is beautiful and looks just like him.

Romantic perfection achieved in this performance. What a tribute to a man & woman skating as one.
@CandyisAwesome8610 жыл бұрын
Skating in general is just not the same anymore. They spend so much time jumping and spinning that the artistry is lost. No one in Sochi could perform to this level of exceptional technic and artistry. G & G will always be the greatest of all time. RIP Sergei.

Bullshit. Tessa virtue and Scott noir are incredible. Mirai Nagasu was the first woman to hit a quadruple axel in the Olympics. Give credit where it’s due.

@@rc4083 they are ice dancers, these guys are pairs skaters. You can’t compare people from 2 different disciplines. Even if you were to, these guys are better, also papidakis and cizeron this year are better than virtue and Moir
@toxic-low-key-ghost79342 жыл бұрын
Also you can blame isu for all that. If they didn’t make so many requirements in programs and didn’t change the rules so much, we would still see skating like we did in the 90s and before. I mean look at sui and Han, even with all the stupid rules in place they are able to create magic, imagine what they would be able to do if they were skating under the old rules and were actually aloud to express themselves without having to fulfil all the technical requirements
@martheresa7550 Жыл бұрын
I get what you mean. Nowadays, it feels mechanical. The magic and art are there anymore as it used to be.

I am so grateful for all the high-quality footage of this pair. Imagine not being able to show newer skating fans what they could do, and only try to describe it from memory... Thanks G&G, for sharing your love and your love of skating with all of us. And thanks to Alpscandy, for uploading this video.

I can’t believe I just heard that commentator say “ I have to wonder how good she would be as a singles skater”. A year after this, Sergei was dead!! Just think about how much strength and precision it took for him to lift her and keep her in the air, on those 2 thin blades!! HE WAS A PHENOMENAL SKATER! So is she but together they were UNMATCHED AND STILL ARE TODAY! I’m sorry but Ilia never compared to Sergei. ❤️ these 2!!

Today I can only put one pair into the same category as G & G and they are ice "dancers", not "skaters". (Virtue & Moir from Canada.) Such an epic love story should not have been cut so short! When they looked at each other you could see that they were absolutely in love! So heartbreaking. You are missed, Sergei!

I remember Scott Hamilton saying that if you coach a pair you show your team one of G and G's long programs and say "That's exactly how it's done." Well, all pairs skaters out there, that's exactly how it's done.
