On one hand, it would make sense since he is rich, has no use for it and one of those locals would probably love to have it. On the other hand, just giving it away straight after in front of everyone might come off as ungrateful and arrogant. For Mr. Ramsay. This is something I've heard when I was very young. The sap of the papaya contains enzymes that make the meat soft. When you pick Papaya, you have to be very careful not to let the sap drip into your face and eyes. Also, I am very pleased about how he respects all these aunties. So sweet.
