By touching upon themes such as social disconnection and human suffering, this show is probably the most complex and dark show that Cirque du Soleil has done.
@chazofalsa8 ай бұрын
I agree, in a way it's like the yang to Saltimbanco's yin. Where that show was about human connection and living in a anti-violent peaceful society Quidam is also about the dangers of escapism and confronting our deepest sorrows like Zoe and her parents in a world filled with harsh realities and how love and understanding can break the societal disconnection in our modern world. I really don't think a cirque show has been more daring like this. ....well, maybe zumanity or ka for example but that's a different beast in it's own.

This is by far my favorite Cirque show. I remember being 16 and seeing it for the first time in 1996. The moment in the beginning when the living room (along with mom and dad) starts rising up was so overwhelming, I cried. It's still one of the most powerful experiences I've ever had at any theatrical performance or concert. I wish they still made shows like Quidam, but am also grateful that I was able to experience it in person and can relive that experience watching the video 28 years later.

Same here. This mesmerized me as a 9 year old child and I watched it so many times on DVD at home over the years. Quidam is an artistic masterpiece.

This was an amazing show! Every act in it is excellent and the music and costumes were great! The aerial contortion in silk with the song Let Me Fall as a backdrop was worth twice the price of admission!! There is something timeless about it.

This week, in december 2023, I watched this show with my daughter. It was amazing because I watched in 96, and I remember too many details, for example the last song. I got back that years for a moment… Great!

I watched this show on a (probably) bootleg DVD I got from the 99cent store several years ago. Easily when I was in late highschool and it still hits home. The feeling of alienation, the feeling of life ... Passing you by like a faceless stranger, the feeling like the world is this fantastic and magical place that you don't have a part in.... I fucking love this show

I remember New Years Eve 2000. when Bravo Channel would play these. I was about 7 years old and saw this for the first time. I was scared to death by the aesthetics but yet entirely fascinated. Cirque Du Soliel has definitely Been one of the biggest influences upon the actor/musician in me

When I first saw this film as a child, I could never understand or appreciate the sheer strength these performers have, especially the balancing duo. That lady had to have kept herself lifted, perfectly straight, unmoving for a solid minute, and THEN some.

Watching the Paris Summer Olympics made me think of this show. The act at 1:17:00 was one of the most unforgettable for me. The way the girls are so bendy like rag dolls blew me away. I loved watching these on TV and when I saw Corteo in person, i was hooked for life. Worth the money to go and see them live. I feel like a little kid watching their shows and always in tears sitting on the edge of my seat clapping and smiling ear to ear.

I was very fortunate to see this particular performance when my children were both in Primary School. When Quidam was performed down in Melbourne. I was totally in awe, we all were, speechless and transfixed on that spectacular performance taking place right in front of us. Such incredible talent. Brings back great memories.

I don't remember how old I was when I saw this in person, maybe like 8? My mum and me grandma went to go see it. I just now randomly remember to look for a digital copy and now I have to remind myself how blown away I was. I remember buying the DVD at the venue too, and the girl I saw in my in person rendition was dressed different from the DVD, that and several skits were missing or swapped out with other stuff.

Sorry but the lighting is terrible
@felipecoral88788 ай бұрын
This recording isn’t an accurate depiction of the show’s lighting. At the time, Cirque shows had to significantly alter their lighting setup when they were filmed. Quidam being a generally very dark show had to overly brighten up the lighting for this recording. Which is why it there’s so much strong blue and bright yellows that weren’t originally as prevalent. Same happened with Alegria in Sydney.
