Gore Vidal discussed his writing life with Jay Parini. Among the topics they discussed were his book on Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Americans' unfamiliarity with their past. Mr. Vidal responded to questions from audience members. Gore Vidal is the author of more than twenty books, including Lincoln, Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace, and Palimpsest: A Memoir. He has also written five plays, numerous screenplays, and two hundred essays. He won the 1993 National Book Award for United States: Essays, 1952 - 1992.
Gore Vidal: Writer Against The Grain was edited by Jay Parini. "Writer Against the Grain" was a session of the 2009 Key West Literary Seminar, held at the San Carlos Institute.

Sorry Uncle I have to finish this posting to HartFord Hospital as their lives are in danger. I meant to say if I get out of this & can get rehired their than they will have protection from too many to count. They want me rescued. I just got done with my grandmother Jackie Kennedys book Wind in the Willows by GR MA HA ME-Grandma has me.She NEVER FORGAVE "NEW DEAL PEOPLE" from taking her husbands life. I don't forgive them for stealing my daddy JFK,Jr. If it was the one on the mini movie he changed for the better to raise me in Athinos Greece. Thank you Uncle for letting me use your website.

I am so happy I lived during the time I had with Gore Vidal...an amazing writer, brilliant mind, he like JFK with that ability to keep so much history in mind. He was great. I wish we had more like him. We have nobody I can think of now that can speak truth to power. How damn sad it is our nation sunk to the bottom as it has.

always was watching change infront of him& take baths with him watching since she was 13.When she got a boyfriend cameras showed he was always walking in on her in all stages of dress.If she got sick & went for exams cervical&breast the surrogate mother always sent Gonzalo in with her who by law when a Dr was seeing a minor had to have a parent present so to her it just made it worse.ALL people who knew her said she said her son Brandon saved her life.She wanted to live for him.Seth was her baby

The answer is obvious. water seeks its own level. There are different kinds of water. There is the lowest sewer scum.... And then there is the purest water in the world which you must search for in the most hidden places on Earth. Vidal is a poisoned source of information.

The problem of the citizens and their lack of knowledge about the governments and their doings is simply not having enough time . A working class person is kept so busy earning a living and sitting in traffic and the worry of day to day struggle etc. That is how these politicians get away with it all. In any case man just don’t care about anything anymore and when some conscious thought bother them there’s always the bottle and before long they have something to laugh about. It’s the mothers that’s worrying about their children and their future.

Lying goes far back in.American and world history. Or better put, the struggle between truth and lies. Trump only continued it to the point of personal insanity which he tried to project on to the entire Nation. Gore Vidal always had an eye for humanized historical truth, void of hagiography.There is also the pessimist, the cynic, which can end, analytically in futility. What a conversation Gore and the real Uncle of our Country- Benjamin Franklin, would have had. Or may still in Eternity.
