I have seen many, many, many tutorials on bags however, this is the clearest one I have come across as you take us through stitch by stitch. Especially going around corners, which can very easily get tricky for beginners. Thank you for doing this at a slow easy pace. Can't wait to see your other tutorials now :-)

Hello! It's important to know the front for a couple reasons. If you ever wanted to make the squares in different colors and wanted to alternate the squares in a specific way, you'd want to know which side is the front. Indicating which side is the front also helps you follow the pattern for joining (where to start and end) so that the joining seams are going in the correct directions and for following the instructions for the border/straps. You are correct though, if you make the squares with all the same colors, it does look the same on both sides. :)

Hello! The strap was designed to be the least stretchy as possible. However, it's still made with yarn, which in itself does stretch, no matter how it's made. An extra step you could do is sew fabric to the inside of the finished strap, which would help prevent stretching, especially with heavy items in the bag.

Help! Even with doing waistcoat stitches my straps are curling. I've made sure the straps were not twisted when attaching it as well. Any advice?

I have never heard of anyone’s strap curling! Have you finished the strap completely? There may be some curl as you work on it but should be flat when finished. You could try going up a hook size for the strap stitches as perhaps you are crocheting very tightly? Or you can try blocking your finished straps. Hope that helps.

I dont know what happened but I ended up with only one strap! I cannot figure out what I missed. I was closely following your instructions and thought the back strap instructions would come at the end. Is there a way to salvage this project?

You can easily start again from the beginning of the border/strap section by pulling (sometimes called frogging) your yarn since the beginning of the border/strap section. It may be helpful to follow the written instructions as well as the video for this section. You’ll see in the instructions that there are stars * and you repeat from * to * around the bag, which is how you add the second strap. Hope that helps.
