Gorilla Riki was trying to take her baby sister Sumomo from Momoka, but Momoka denied him and left.

　He is growing up fast.

　Born in May 2022.
　She started living together with the other gorillas of the Haoko troop from March 2023.

Komomo looks so content to just sit there holding the baby. How wonderful to see her taking such an active role in raising Sumomo! I just hope Komomo can have her own family soon. ❤❤❤

Sumomo stares so intently at the camera (the humans presumably watching) very alert baby. Her bond with her big sister K and the way they hold eachother is so sweet.

Mom is there it’s just that the others love the baby too. The zoo feeds the baby formula as Mom can’t nurse.

The calm energy of this baby female and how all of them including the young male match it is so fascinating. Little boy gorillas are a different thing. Need more little girl gorrillas as there are so many little boys her age right now it seems.

It's time for the girls to get married. The zoo apparently does not deal with this issue. They are more comfortable with feeding Komomo and Momoka hormonal drugs to prevent them from becoming pregnant by their father. Soon Ricky will grow up and another contender will appear. In Europe, there is a common coordination center in which they decide which gorilla to which zoo to be assigned for breeding. Already at the age of seven, gorillas are taken away from the family. And in Japan they do not deal with this issue at basically all gorillas are relatives. They probably don't care about this issue.

I’m starting to get worried. I barely see the barely see the baby. I think the sister is being over protective and doesn’t give the baby to the mother for breastfeeding

Sumomo can't nurse from Momoko. They had to be separated for too long, as Momoko was too ill to care for the baby. The keepers give Sumomo bottles of formula, she is doing very well with the care from her family and the staff all working to make sure she's thriving.

The keepers bottle feed her and she eats pieces of what the others eat. She was eating eggplant the other day

@Cheri Connolly One see ALL Other Animals Feed/Eat in an 8 min clip! I can look at Her & see that she is Getting Nourishment...Somewhere? They NEVER Put her down to WALK, PLAY, etc. But, Thank You!♡

@@Sunshine-om4tb She moves about in short distances. She can walk and crawl. There are other videos that show her on the ground. I think since she's so young that she likes the warmth and security of being carried around by mom, dad, and sisters. Even Riki at times but he's still a little rough. Toto seems to be the only one not overly interested in her.

The zoo checked mother Momoko's condition and they say Momoko is not yet in heat to have another baby. And of course, I saw Momoko does take care of her baby Sumomo
