Instead of moaning about some random sound issues on the stage, people should focus on recognizing how little it takes to make a song shift from good to great. It's amazing to see how simple and repetitive the arrangement is on this song, while the weird but extremely interesting chord progression and the great vocal performances on top make it shine. Obviously, the groove is simple yet effective too. It just goes to show: Focus on the important bits of your songwriting and bloody practice your performance to become a master. Thanks, Ski, for another inspiring deconstruction!

Really nice vids. Learn a lot from them. I get a little bit lost with Ableton and the arrangement view he always uses. A bit difficult to guess in what part of the song things go. It'll be easier for non-Ableton users if he so kind could use the other window where one could have a visual contest of what he is doing. But apart from that all good!!

Hi Saffron. This was at Sonar +D in Barcelona, so a convention of sorts. Ski does these kinds of deconstructions regularly though and there's quite a few on our channel. Try the recent ones on tracks by Massive Attack, 808 State and Calvin Harris for more of this kind of thing.

He had the score already laid out for him and so he knew. Could have possibly known it by ear or constructed the scale from the notes he played either way though, as it doesn't really matter :)
