007NJR he's just running through the notes of the scale. If you can figure what key he's playing in you should be able to pick it up by ear

That’s was great bro but it’s a lil weird looking at lefty bass to me. Your still killing it though.

What are the notes he's hitting starting on the 47 second mark

I’m using some chromaticism. I’m chromatically surrounding the 5 of the key then I’m chromatically surrounding the 3. Like Victor Wooten said if you wanna add color to your playing you do it by adding the chromatic scale. The prefix chromo means color.

hey, I'm a gospel musician and i've been contemplating going back to a 4 string bass after playing 5's for years. 4's are so much more fun to play IMO but I'm still on the fence about giving up that B string. Question.. at your church,.Do you play E flats on your 4 string with standard tuning?
@dewayneanderson89854 жыл бұрын
Man I love 6 string basses. They are so easy to play. I just played a gig the other day on my 4 string because I broke a string on my 6 string. The 4 string just isn’t low enough. I’ll never play a church gig again with a 4. I’ll only solo and do Motown type of songs with it. Band members were looking at me like it wasn’t as low as it usually be. So much range on a six string. Plus being a lefty it’s hard to find 5 strings. 😝 I never had one. I like the chords that can be easily achieved on a 6.
@eknight1014 жыл бұрын
@@dewayneanderson8985 I know this thread was 4 months ago but since then I've been playing nothing but 5's. For me, 4's just don't cut it in gospel music. Got to have that B string... I was also wanting to venture into 6's. So far the Ibanez 6 strings are looking pretty good because they got them fast and skinny necks.
@dewayneanderson89854 жыл бұрын
E Knight yeah I had an Ibanez I liked the slim neck. I wanted a top notch bass and saw a 6 string wyn for 2800 about 5 years ago. It’s great except the owner had the neck built to wide. I adjusted to it. It lets me know I can go for a 7 string. I would play melodies all day on a 7.

@@dewayneanderson8985 , I'm a lefty as well. Been playing a 4-string. Wanted to move up to a 5-string fretless. I haven't looked for awhile though. I know you said it hard to find them for us lefties. You got any advise on good brands that can handle a big grandfather type of hand?
@dewayneanderson89857 ай бұрын
@@biggerduke I’ll say wyn bass. That’s the kind I got. I got smaller hands at first I was like this thing is too wide. 😝 I had an Ibanez. Their necks are very slim though. MTD lower series have lefty basses.
