For all of you who have been given morality lessons instead of the Gospel, hear how Dr. Rod Rosenbladt (of White Horse Inn radio program fame) succinctly presents Christianity as first and foremost a genuine truth claim about Christ as our righteous substitute, instead of a never ending list of popular religious recipes for personal success.
If you've struggled with your faith in your church because of what you're seeing and hearing (and maybe don't even go to church anymore), you don't want to miss this powerful address -- an unabashed analysis of the church today and what it is doing to many believers -- from one who has experienced it himself.

This lifted my heart. He articulates perfectly why I left the church and also why I came back. I was one of those alumni. Sad, mad and left the church for 5 years and fell into sin. Then the Lord called me back and I was confirmed in the Lutheran church on Reformation Day of 2020. I hear and receive the good news every Sunday and have a spiritual relief I have never had in my almost 40 years of life. The church isn’t perfect but keeping the gospel as the center covers a multitude of sins.

I have listened to this video two different times now. I must say, I am so grateful that I have found this channel, 1517! When I was a little girl, I cried out to the LORD for forgiveness and I was baptized in an Assembly of God church, when I was 9 years old. I have struggled with doubt of my salvation for years, even thinking, years ago, the lie that I may have blasphemed the Holy Spirit, because I couldn't get rid of the condemnation. I'm so glad I've found this channel, because it helps me learn the gospel. I am forgiven. I am redeemed because of what JESUS did for us on the Cross. I have a hunger for the Word of God, and I bought a Lutheran Study Bible, and I highlight the notes and share my faith whenever possible. Thank you! God Bless YOU! ♥

Been listening to this off and on for over a decade I think. Not even sure if I’m a Christian at this point. I just listen to this some times for comfort. What a sacred little gem of a sermon. It’s too bad you don’t hear stuff like this more.

Wow this is awesome....I was the mad ex Lutheran... After the two year instruction in confirmation class, I ran from any church until I was 21, and then was confronted with the gospel with no strings attached, and repented with faith in Jesus's saving power and grace and was revived from my Godless life.. I broke out of the jail I was trapped in... 3X have listened to this message.... Thank you Pastor Chris for posting this....Bugsy

To me , Jesus Christ died on the Cross for humanity of this world including me . Yet I found myself condemned by my church after suffering for over 20 years at the hands of my fellow co- workers and employers . My crime : to stand up for what is wrong . Their argument : How dare you stand up to authority .

Dr. Rosenbladt, May you rest in the Peace of our Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. May His Holy Spirit comfort all those who grieve today over you through the preached Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was deeply saddened to hear of your passing today, but I look forward to seeing you once again on the other side of this veil of tears. His work through you, His Words on your lips, is partly the reason I have confidence that we will meet again.

Reformers talk about "evidences" of our salvation, quoting James: faith without works is dead. I do understand that our faith wants to serve Christ (I am currently struggling to get the log out of my own eye before I even attempt to help anyone with their speck) yet I am REALLY struggling with going to church. There is soo much expectation on me to do and to be, I don't feel like I can be the real, messed up, frightened, timid, angry, socially awkward, quiet thinker, weirdo, lazy person I am. I can only be real with Jesus because He knows everything, but no one else. I've never been part of a clique and that's all church seems to be. I truly want to come under the Lord's discipline but I stay away from church because I just don't belong (doesn't that make me a tare?) and I'm scared of being taught wrong to boot. And no, I am unsure if I'm truly saved because I don't seem to show any "evidences", and if I do, I can't trust myself to judge them accurately. Thank you for this 🙏

Did you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins? Do you believe Jesus died for your sins? Do you believe He is the son of God? If you answered yes to these simple questions then, YOU ARE SAVED! Do not trust your feelings, doubts about your salvation, trust the Word of God. Reformers are just confused theologians who are unable to grasp the beauty of the simple Gospel and attempt to make themselves sound 'wise and knowledgeable' but are fools. Do not trust them nor anyone else about your salvation. Trust the Word of God. Read John 16:13 and 1 and 1 John 1:27 and you'll know who to trust: The Holy Spirit, He will lead you to the truth.

I feel this so intensely. I’ve felt convicted… well honestly I’m not sure if it’s conviction or pressure from fellow Christians to be an active member in a local church. To not just attend church but to be an “active” part of it, whatever that means I’m never entirely sure. But it seems no matter where I go to church I am sitting in the pew crawling out of my skin. When I leave I feel like I just escaped prison. It’s terrible and I also feel so guilty, thinking maybe I don’t have the Holy Spirit like they do, and that’s why I feel so alienated.

Luther missed emphasis on empowering work of the Spirit. We who are in the Spirit are actually fulfilling demands of the law as Bible teaches (Romans 8:3-4). Of course law is not 10 commandments, but that is another issue. So there should be demands on the practical righteousness. Christianity is not to be passive churchgoers who just accepted 5 Solas principles, but those who are trusting Christ and live for Christ daily.

we can all sympathize with those who feel unable to be perfect. But Rosenbladt certainly is selective in his quotations. The letter of James states flat out 'faith without works is dead'. That's why Luther wanted to remove it from the bible. It is also intriguing that when Matthew's gospel pictures the Judgment the criterion is what people actually did, not what they believed. "I was hungry and you fed me etc." To be well balanced we have to keep both sides of the discussion.

The “faith without works is dead” was referring to the good works that naturally come AFTER one comes to faith
@RobertEWaters
@RobertEWaters Жыл бұрын
Your exegesis of James and Matthew could use some work. For James- as for Jesus in Matthew- the significant of works is precisely that they demonstrate the presence of faith. What James criticizes as "faith" is not what Paul means by the term, but historical and factual knowledge such as the devils have. That is certainly not what Luther or Rosenbladt mean by faith. You could not be more wrong. You can no more mix the Law and the Gospel than a woman can be a little bit pregnant. To lift up works as a coordinate cause of salvation with faith is to completely destroy the Gospel and present us as a practical matter with justification by works alone- a criterion under which none of us can stand. It is precisely the evil which Dr. Rosenbladt addresses, and what has robbed so many poor souls of their assurance, their faith, and their very salvation.
@RobertEWaters
@RobertEWaters Жыл бұрын
@@svnsetsomnia8280 Precisely. They are the inevitable fruit of the very faith which becomes impossible if we mix Law and Gospel. They produce evidence of faith, and it is in that capacity that James and Jesus in Matthew commend it. For James, faith is factual and historical knowledge such as the devils have, and tremble. It has nothing to do with the existential trust of which Paul and Luther speak- the kind that produces good works even before the question of whether good works are to be done is even asked.
