Enough about the scores. I was very impressed with the power from Karina, Hyoyeon, Wendy, and Seulgi to an extent from that very soft section transitioning into the dance break. They sold that instrument and volume change. Also thank you for giving justice to Hyoyeon. People keep undermining her because she supposedly wasn’t putting in as much efforts, but she was very solid throughout imo, esp in terms of body control.

Welcome to my first who danced the best analysis of 2023. We're starting strong with "stamp on it" by Got the beat. I haven't figured out what I will do about the whole ranking thing… But this is what I think will happen - I will do rankings on groups I'm not very familiar with - Subjective ranking on groups I know; i.e. Itzy, Enhypen, G idle. Kep1er and NMIXX will switch between objective and subjective ranking. But I want you guys to know that my subjective ranking, is kinda close to an "objective" or "outside" perspective. I won't put an "underdeveloped" dancer above someone unless they fit my criteria hehehe also a little mistype at 2:33 --> it's supposed to be "surely another", not surgery XD. A big mistype! Let's talk about the girls; Interchangeable between Hyoyeon, Seulgi and Karina. This is why I would rank the three of them first. Who "danced" the best goes to Hyoyeon in my opinion. Although she wasn't the most interesting for me to watch, she still has a very very very impressive technique. It is very clear that she has been dancing for a long time. Great fluidity, sharpness, footwork variation! She just got everything. If there's one thing I want to comment upon, it would be her musicality. Overall great sense of timing, but still some places where it got unclear for me to read the timing. Who I personally think did it the best/fit the dance more; Karina! She has a very distinctive style which I personally think went well with the choreography. Great energy, power, bouncy coordination grooveee! Just loved it. Her musicality was shining here as well! I was still doubting whether she should've gotten a 9 or a 10 in coordination, but her execution during the rap part was enough to convince me. Overall I would love to place her first. Also this is the thing... People have been saying I'm underestimating Karina dance skills based on the other rankings, more specifically "illusion" by Aespa. We can see a big difference in Karinas execution here compared to Illusion. This choreography showcases her strength better than in illusion, and that's why she got a lower score in that specific ranking. Who was the most balanced: Seulgi. Yes she got a lower score in lower body than both Karina and Hyoyeon, but based on the overall impression, she is well rounded! The energy level is just so appropriate; she knows when to go full out. Also good amount of texture. While Karina has better and consistent texture, it felt a little "too much" and unneccessary, while Seulgi was more natural if that makes sense? Based on the most balanced member, I would put Seulgi first. Interchangeable between Winter/BoA; Winter; Did very well this time. She was the most detailed person based on alignment. Good overall timing, and arm control! Yes she finally put some force, but overall dynamics could still improve BoA; oh gosh, she went from 8.8 to 8.1. I was hoping the dance practice would save her score, but it didn't happen. Nice body control, good timing, alignment, but overall energy and IMPRESSION were dissappointing. She has a more developed body control than Winter, but based on both the stage and dance practice, Winter was mostly consistent. BoA has been in the industry for a long time, and we know she always serves! I understand, no one can always go 100% and that's fine :) Her not ranking high as usual does not make her a bad dancer, and it does not mean I am disrespecting her at all. We all saw it coming Wendy; Wendy is someone I truly appreciate when it comes to performance. She always goes full out and I love that about her. Great energy, texture, locks. What dragged her score down, was her timing issues and alignment; she shortcutted some moves and didn't always get the angles right. Taeyeon; Great torso lock, and nice intro. Very calm execution, but details, coordination, overall technique were not the best; very underextended.

Honestly it's so baffling to me that people still consider Karina a weak main dancer and winter a weak lead dancer. Like Karina may not be "one of the best female dancers in kpop" like seulgi, lisa, hyo but she's great and winter is also up there with other good lead dancers. Also do you think winter is overall better than Wendy now? I feel like they have very different strengths and weaknesses (especially regarding timing and musicality)

Wendy never really is one of the greatest dancers but the thing I like about her dance is the presence she gives. And she improved so much!

Hyo and Boa is not giving their all. As a Sone I can tell Hyo is restraining herself in dancing to not overpower the others. This choreo is a warm up for her. She is not even trying hard.

I’m so extremely proud of Wendy, because after her injuries she could’ve just left the industry for good to recover, but she came back, and now she’s dancing so much better than she used to. She never was a bad dancer, but i didn’t really expect her to improve so greatly. she still has some execution issues and sometimes she lacks fluidity in her movements, but omg she always gives her best energy. Seulgi and Hyo are great,i wouldn’t say they went to the maximum, but cause of their technique they’re standing out, every single move they do is so detailed. WinRina are amazing, improving every day so much, especially Winter, i hope she gets more confidence, cause she has the potential to be even better. I don’t really know what to say about Taeyeon because with her voice i kinda understand why she’s unbothered sometimes hahahah, she has the right to, but Boa seems kinda tired and/or sad in the dance practice? idk, she lacks sharpness in her moves lately, she dances too swaggy even for the moves which do not require that

I agree with this ranking Hyoyeon is a superior dancer. I think this type of choreos are perfect for Seulgi. It's so satisfying to watch Karina. Winter's angles are perfect. I don't really think Boa made an effort in that dance practice. Wendy's energy is great Dancing isn't Taeyeon's strong point but i think she did great too.

I feel like the unnie trio never actually went the hardest in this unit. Even Taeyeon, like looking at her chest isolation in this, there is no way she is a bad dancer. Sucks that Hyoyeon doesn’t even have many center parts. Props to WinRina for stepping up their game and wow, you are really fast.

Since the first time I saw Hyo dance, I always amazed with her body control. It feels like she knows even how to move every cells of her body. Sound exaggerated, but, I saw lots of her past dancing videos even with the most low quality (because it's old video). And she's amazing indeed. She doesn't need extra force and energy to dance that good. Whatever dance style she tried, she never disappointing. My fav is always her lock and pop. That one old video is great, she was dancing like robot. The point is, never underestimate Hyo in term of dancing

Got the beat choreos are like made with Karina & Winter in mind, especially Karina. That's why she always shines in this unit rather than aespa. Winter definitely has improved in putting more energy. Hyoyeon is simply the best, even when she's not actively trying. Her performance was very good in the stage video, SMA & the music show but not really in this video. Understandable, it's only the practice. Seulgi always gives her best, she's the most balanced & has amazing stage presence..top 2 in this unit for sure. Wendy has the same issues which she always had, like timing issues & not finishing the moves fully. But she too has great stage presence, top 2 in the unit definitely. Boa.. idk if she's tired or just doesn't like the choreo or what. Taeyeon is fine, I guess.

Surprised with how solid Taeyeon’s torso control is. I feel like she should have maybe gotten an 8 in upper body. But ig her arms weren’t impressive enough. Wendy’s torso should probably have gotten her a 9 in upper body. Very impressive locks and force. Winter should definitely get a 10 in coordination. I feel like the reason why she looks so solid this time is because of her impressive full body coordination, even if her body control was a little underwhelming. BoA wasn’t going full out at all, and this type of choreography doesn’t suit her at all (focusing on dynamics, locks, and powerful sections) compared to Step Back. But I feel like she should have gotten a higher score in lower body because those footworks during the dance break were prominent and extended. Finally, Hyoyeon should absolutely have gotten a 10 in dynamics and flavor. Her groove was just fantastic.

Wendy owned that chest locks in chours she really killed that part and i will give wendy an 8 (B- ) just increasing her upper body point to 9 Due to how she isolates well in upper body She just needs to be more relaxed and listen to rthym carefully and need to fix her balance issue she can easily bring hip hop moves into idol dancing which is a good sign ( credit goes to @kpop deep dive )

I think the two releases we've seen so far don't suit Boa and her style. It just feels almost.. childish for her? Like she is THAT WOMAN, give me sassy and sexy yet elegant choreo. This style just really isnt playing into her strengths. I think the choreo in general is kinda basic and just looks really awkward at times. To be fair I dont think "Stamp on it" or "Step Back" really play into any of the girls strengths, except maybe Winrina. I wish SM would step away from this mainstream teen crush concept and give us something strong and powerful to really show off the girls stregnths.

I find that the “alignment” of Karina is her major weakness, but I don’t really get this term, can someone explain? I really like Karina dance style and hope to see more of dance analysis for Karina (and aespa) in the future!

first, I want to say I was literally waiting for you to do a video on this song bc I really wanted to hear your thoughts! second, in my opinion, winter and Karina really owned this choreography, especially considering how much winter improved and how much personality karina added. however, I also have to agree with what your top comment said-hyoyeon “danced” the best from a technical standpoint. overall, my favorites this era are karina, hyoyeon, and winter in that order with seulgi close 4th (this isn’t based on technique or anything just my preference). they all did great though!

It baffles me how some Reveluv and MY are straight up disrespecting BoA because of this dance practice. Even with a lack of energy, we can clearly see that her proficiency in dance. She's done harder choreographies in her 20 years of career and Step Back (where she dominated) happened a year ago. I hope she's doing well and this is happening just because schedule is tight. I've known that Karina is amazing, but Winter's stage presence improved a lot in a last couple of months. I can't wait to see what will Aespa brings with their concerts and comeback!

I thought this the first time the stage video dropped but this choreography doesn't really suit BoA plus she's not even giving 90% of her energy so I'm not surprised. She's a great vocalist but I didn't know she danced so well, even if she does have some gaps to work on ... Winter's placement and upper body are impressive.
