The music video is based on act 2: scene 2 (otherwise known as the balcony scene) of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Jinyoung plays juliet, which is why he's on a balcony, Yugyeom plays Romeo which is why he is in the garden. The song title “Not on the Moon” refers to a line Juliet says to Romeo "O, swear not by the moon, th' inconstant moon that monthly changes in her circle orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable." meaning she is worried that if he swears his love on the moon it will not be constant or stable so in the next line she asks him not to swear at all and to just PROVE his love. ALSO for the other scenes In Jackson's throne room scene the shirtless men and the cloaked people on either side represent the two families. The bottle represents the poison in the story with which Juliet kills herself, then Romeo kisses her lips to take in the poison left on them to take his own life. Then finally the coffins represent Romeo and Juliet's death.
