Thank you very much for this idea: "First you learn some common rules and then you unlearn them after having understood the greater principle behind it." Reminded me of the Shu-Ha-Ri principle and gave me (as Scrum Master) an other explanation as to why I started break with the typical rules of Agile techniques. Thx!

You are right Levy, most boxers don't switch stances because it serves no purpose. The stance you're best at is going to be the only one you really need. But in MMA or any other striking combat sport where kicks are thrown in, being comfortable boxing in orthodox or southpaw is important because a whole new dimension opens itself to you

22:26 -- MARVIN Haggler. He switch stances a LOT. and for entire rounds too, not just exiting exchanges. Also, throw on some old black and white film of a light weight named Willie Pep. That guy switched up stances a ton. If you ever want a master class in out boxing , watch the fight from 1980 or so "sugar Ray Leonard VS Thomas Hearns". For Inside boxing, it's the 2005 light weight title fight (unifying the belts) between Diego Corrales and Louis Castillo.

I love that idea of offering your opponents openings they can't capitalize on. There's a famous clip of Samart Payakaroon crossing his feet and then dropping back and timing a mean right hand when his opponent comes in to take advantage. It shows you the primary of context and understanding even over principles, especially in such a theory laden game.
