To be fair, it was quite understandable for any player above 1400; nowhere near Hikaru's level when he goes crazy at it, and very similar or easier to follow than many post-game analyses and interviews on top tournaments.

Levy. You’re fucking great at this. My dad is a high level player and I grew up playing from super you f but go in and out of it. I admire Hikaru, but his recaps are so fast and cliche/mechanical. You move at a pace in which I can get absorbed and follow along and your story telling and authenticity is very engaging and relatable. Probably why you have the huge channel and make the big bucks. We are also all rooting for your GM bid.

I feel like Levys not playing as well as he did in Madrid this tour, though I can't talk. G1 opp spent 30 mins on an easy move then lost in time scramble, G2 opp blundered, offered draw g3 in a complex position. That being said chess speaks for itself and Levy's sweeping the whole tour lmao. I think the way Levy analyzes GM games is one of the best way to get better at Chess, and he was already solid to begin with. For sure he gets GM within next few years I think and it's gonna be neat to see him grow.

It feels like Levy is learning what it really takes to be a grandmaster, which is adaptability. There is no one secret way of playing that wins you all games. You have to constantly keep assessing both your opponent and the situation at hand, and come up with a custom strategy for that specific moment in that specific game. The way he figured out his opponent was psychologically weaker and remembered he was better at blitz is the sort of brilliance you need to become a GM! Very nicely done. He'll be GM in no time.
