Love you Ovi! I first noticed Ovechkin at the World Junior Championships in Halifax. He broke my heart that night by winning gold in Canada. I will never forget his physical presence. The way Jordan Tootoo was running around checking everyone all tournament but he just bounced off Ovechkin. Then Ovi entered the league and immediately delivered a thunderous hit knocking the partition from the glass. That rookie year with you and Sid was nothing short of spectacular spectacular. I’ve been with you this entire time. Through all the ups and downs, and I’m so happy to see you reach another milestone. Go get that 802, and then 895!

A legendary moment in the history of hockey

I’m a Kraken fan now since they made it easy to get into the NHL but I remember tuning into a Capitals game as a kid 10 years ago. Watching Ovi play was mesmerizing. I’ll always cheer on the Caps. The Great 8 is one of the best to ever do it.

Regardless of what your favorite team is if you love hockey you have to admire his accomplishments. All I can say is congratulations to him.

Ovi is a born sniper. I do not know how many goals he would have scored now if he had not missed matches due to covid and lockouts. The fact that Ovi almost escaped injury during his outstanding career can be considered a great success. A total of 18 games missed due to injuries is a unique indicator for an NHL superstar. I think Ovi has every chance to surpass Wayne Gretzky, who played until he was 38. The main thing is that there are no injuries...

Chicago has some of the best sports fans in America. They know their hockey history and are showing respect to one of the all time great goal scorers.

Ovi got me into hockey since I was a kid with his introduction to the NHL. I was hooked ever since. I remember all this milestones, the 2018 Stanley Cup win that I was riding a high for months. Seeing him hit 800. Wow. I never had a doubt, and still believe he WILL become #1 on that list and overtake Gretz, and I will cherish that moment for my life, telling my grandkids one day decades down the line when Ovi Jr. is playing in the NHL. Thanks Ovi. You made the NHL great and what it is today. The greatest goal scorer the sport has ever seen. A legend. Спасибо брат.

He is incredible. And to think so many wrote him off as getting to old and slipping. I thought his usual cast of players come back his scoring could increase. One came back. Right smack in the thick of the goal scoring race. It is like scoring became easier. Funny Oshie comes back and so did his scoring. Still me myself did not think he would get close. As long as he stays healthy he will get it. I wonder if he keeps playing after he passes the Great one. And for how long? 50? Think he must be a robot. His scoring is unreal. He still looks great. His recent pace will get him 50 again if not more. If there is slippage in his play, I do not see it. Very little, but he is getting gray.

I've had the joy if watching Ovi ever since I was 13 years old. Followed his career the whole time and even as a leafs fan he's still my favorite player in the league. Best goal scorer of all time and so physically dominate from the moment he entered the league. I don't want to see him stop at 895, the Great 8 needs to hit 900!

Wings fan for life here. But I would be lying if I said that this didn't make me a little emotional. Congrats to one of the greatest players of my time. And kudos to Chicago fans for celebrating him the way they did. It was classy and made this wings fan proud of our rivals across the lake.
