interesting how when Ellis catches an elbow the other player gets a warranted 5 and a game, but when Ellis blatantly elbows Buchnevich in the head while jumping, he only gets 2 mins and no post game discipline from the league. the NHL needs to figure it out this year with this inconsistency in officiating.

This was unintentional, Perry anticipated making body contact with Ellis so he stuck his elbow out, you can tell how he reacted to it he was upset he did it.

I don't like Perry as a player for obvious reasons, but I totally agree with you on this. I see him trying to avoid a collision and unfortunately his forearm/elbow knocked Ellis in the head. Bummer.

There's a big difference between laying a dman out hitting his shoulder and pretending to poke check coming across his body without making any contact except elbow to head. It was 100% intentional any one who can skate well knows he didn't even brwxe for a major impact like laying him out he stayed upright and elbowed the face

I'm not a huge Perry fan but I don't think he meant to hit Ellis in the head. It's a penalty for sure but keep in mind Ellis is five foot ten so it's harder not to hit him in the head. Ellis was in the middle of shooting so he was vulnerable. Perry should not have made that check whale Ellis was shooting. I don't think Perry meant to hit Ellis in the head but it was a dangerous check.

He was skating by him it's easy to hit a guys shoulder instead of pretending NG to poke check and going across his body to only connect with his head. If you play hockey you know the difference between finishing a hit to the body and head hunting. Perry been a cheap player for ever
