I was born and raised in Far Rockaway. We had fun and good times, some bad too but the good outweighed the bad. I miss Far Rockaway so much, except those cold and treacherous winters. My last years in Far Rockaway as a teenager we lived in the late 70's to early 80's in Wave Crest and had a beach view apartment. Those summers were great feeling the cool ocean breeze and smelling the ocean water. So many great memories are all we have of Far Rockaway 😊

Spent every beach day of my childhood in the Rockaways(between 17th and 35th streets). Then in my teen years, my brother worked at the Good Humor concession stand(17th street)in the late 60's. I would ride in with him at 6am and stay until it was time to take the bus back home to Hewlett and go to work at my summer job. Sometimes mom would pack up dinner and we would go back to the beach as a family at night to eat and enjoy the cool ocean breeze. When my brother married, he and his wife had their first child while living in an apartment on Beach 14th street- I was so jealous that he was living by the beach. From the time I can remember, I daydreamed living in one of the beach bungalows... I still dream that dream.
