*Jess* These paintings are so beautiful, full of detail, gorgeous colours, and you have definitely inspired me to have a go myself. I have one question though - when learning to paint is it better keep painting the same scene over and over again to improve your skills in a particular area ( such as painting trees, buildings, flowers, portraits or mountains ) until you get it right, or is it better to paint different scenes of a similar nature ( like you did ) ? Which method makes you learn a subject more easily, quicker, and better, or does it make no real difference either way ? Thanks in advance 😊

Thanks so much! I think it’s best to paint whatever interests you. I liked painting different scenes because they all were interesting to me and kept me motivated to paint. If you want to get better at painting a particular subject eg. trees, then maybe it’s better to focus on that. But if you’re trying to learn a new medium, eg gouache, then just paint what interests you. Hope that helps!

jess, wat do u recommend to seal gouache paintings? 🤔 smtimes i find gouache painting abit fragile, if i accidentally touched my paintings when my fingers r abit wet, it activates the gouache paint 😭😭😭

I have never tried gouache or acrylic(tried watercolor only). In terms of money,comfort and taking care of the colours. Which one would you recommend among these two mediums?

you should go for gouache! it is such a mixed media media, where you can make it seem opaque like acrylic, as well as thin like watercolor!

which side of the watercolour paper do you use? this looks like the rougher side whereas some videos look smoother

I use both sides! If I want a smoother surface then I use the back of the canson mixed media paper. When I practice I also use both sides so I save on paper and resources

how is ur gouache still wet like that, mine is dry and hard to work with even when i spray water..

i spray it with water about once or twice a week! and when i'm painting with it i'm constantly spraying water on it so it doesn't dry out. maybe try put a lot of water in it and just let it soak for a while :)
